  1. brenneman keeps calling jacque jones "jack jones"
  2. who didn't see that one coming, honestly?
  3. I had that problem when I lived in Charlotte. Somehow, the powers that be think that North Carolina is in the Cincinnati market. Go figure. they gonna black me out for DC baltimore florida and atlanta too? http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/subscriptions/mlbtv.jsp At the bottom of the page, go to the drop down menu, select a team, and it will list all the zipcodes that apply for that team's blackout area.

  5. Christ, Rusch is getting rocked, thank Len only 1 homerun was given up.
  6. Yeah I noticed that, where does he normally bat? This year, 4th. 20 ABs, 13 in the 4 spot, 5 in the 5th spot, 2 PH. Wow, Jerry Narron isn't a good manager.
  7. WTF, mlb.tv blacks out Cincinnati Reds AWAY games too for me?! That's so ridiculous, especially when the reds.com site tells me that it's not televising the game. I hate mlb.
  8. It's not walkable, but your hotel does offer a 24-hour shuttle service to the airport according to its website. The shuttles that drop you off at the airport drop you off directly above the O'Hare El stop. Just look for the overhead signs, they'll tell you how to get from the bus/shuttle center to the train station. If you want to walk to an El stop your best bet is to find a hotel closer to the Rosement station. It's on N River Road, and there are at least a couple hotels within a few blocks of that stop. As I mentioned before, we have stayed in Rosemont a number of times, and the Best Western is not really near the Rosemont stop - from there it would be better to take the free shuttle to the airport, then catch things there. If you would rather use the Rosemont station, the couple of hotels that are fairly near there (that we've stayed at) are: The Chicago Marriott Suites (probably the closest) Westin O'Hare Embassy Suites None of these places are cheap, but they are nice. I've stayed at that Mariott a couple of times and I highly reccomend it. I doubt it's in my budget, and if the Best Western offers a 24 hour shuttle to the el stop, that's good enough for me.

  10. Are you kidding? Find a post where someone has said it is 100% unacceptable to swing at the first pitch in any situation. You won't be able to find one. Of course we're going to complain if a batter makes an out on the first pitch. Making an out on the first pitch is essentially the most worthless at-bat possible. You should only swing at the first pitch if it's exactly what you're looking for and you're able to do something good with it. If you hit a homerun or get a hit, great, you didn't waste your one pitch at bat. But if you make an out (which Cubs players tend to do when they swing at the first pitch), you've had the worst at bat possible. Worse than hitting into a triple play? Just imagine a one-pitch triple play.
  11. At least you have radio. It's MLB.com Gameday time for me...Gameday Audio's not even an option because I'm in the so called "blackout" range. Thats weird. I am able to listen on Gameday Audio at work while in Downtown Chicago. I don't think blackout rules apply to audio.. Just about to make the same post.

  13. I love how WGN shows about 50% of Cubs games, and the Fox Sports channel in Dayton shows about 70% of the Reds games, but this game won't be on TV here. :( I guess it's Marty Brenneman time for me.
  14. thx pujols going for 8 with ortiz tuesday night!
  15. No you don't. It's his job to make correct moves.
  16. Baker is still a below average manager. If the Cubs win the World Series, he'll still be a below average manager. Happy? If the Cubs are winning, that probably means people are feeling positive, and feel that it's less necessary to call out Dusty. It doesn't mean he's improved or that he's good, but if the Cubs are winning, why ruin that good mood by reminding ourselves we have a pretty bad manager?
  17. as dumb as fishing for a marlin using only an earthworm for bait.
  18. He can say whatever he wants. I personally find his fishing analogies funny and weird.
  19. Nothing. But making fishing analogies when talking about baseball sure is. And why is that? Because the intent of his message is very clear without the fishing reference. It'd be just as dumb as if Dusty was a big fan of backgammon and threw in random backgammon references when talking about a player who is struggling.
  20. Nothing. But making fishing analogies when talking about baseball sure is.
  21. I just remember how great the Kerry Wood deal seemed in 2003.
  22. it's funny because dusty is using another dumb fishing analogy. this is just like the striped bass and the grudzielanek girlfriend quotes. they're not necessarily wrong things, but the way they are said is stupid and hilarious, and attention should be called to it.
  23. i'll add to the questions, why not? at the best western o'hare in rosemont...i know there's a blue line el stop at o'hare, but does anyone know if the best western is within walking distance of this el stop, or does it offer a free shuttle to and from the el stop? thanks.
