  1. Sadly, this is what the big 12 wanted. They are not going to expand even though it's dumb not to
  2. Historically OU's football program is better than Texas'. Since 1945 OU has the best winning percentage out of any football program, most wins, most weeks ranked #1, most weeks ranked in the top 5, weeks ranked #1 in the BCS, Weeks ranked in the top 5 of the BCS, and the most all-americans. http://www.soonersports.com/sports/m-footbl/archive/m-footbl-no1-program-modern-era.html OU has 7 AP national championships, Texas has 3 Ou has 42 conference championships, Texas has 32 OU has 142 All-americans, Texas has 129 OU has had 5 heisman winners, Texas has 2 OU has 21 players in the College hall of fame, Texas has 11 OU also has the record for most consecutive victories with 47, a record that will never be broken. But Texas brings more money to a conference because the size of their state and all the viewers in that state. So in terms of bringing money, Texas is number one. In terms of the actual football team, OU is by far number one. wait, why is 1945 the cut off? Texas has the 2nd overall win % and the 2nd most victories all time right? Best dataset for his argument. that's what I thought. Historically, Texas has been better. Using an arbitrary cut off date to make your team look better doesn't change that. These are counted before the 1945 cut off date OU has 7 AP national championships, Texas has 3 Ou has 42 conference championships, Texas has 32 OU has 142 All-americans, Texas has 129 OU has had 5 heisman winners, Texas has 2 OU has 21 players in the College hall of fame, Texas has 11 I don't really see how you can say Texas has the better football program
  3. I just used that date because it is easier to find much more reliable statistics. That date is considered when the "modern era' started, and sense we are in the "modern era" i thought those stats would be more relevant. Since wins and losses in the early 1900's have been reported differently by different schools and some schools pull an alabama and just start crediting themselves with wins and championships I figured this would be more accurate. It was no intention to skewer stats, just make them more accurate.
  4. What's that? Value to a conference? I said that Texas brings more money to a conference than OU does, but OU has a far better football program than Texas does.
  5. I guess I was thinking of quality of their football programs with my last post. In terms of value to a conference, Texas is alone at #1. But OU is still head and shoulders above any other team in the conference. I think you can reasonably refer to them as the top 2 in the conference. I don't think they put that one in the brochure though  The Boise State game? Man, that was such a good game. I thought we had won it on the interception with like 40 seconds left :( I edited my post above, Texas actually only has 3 AP national championships, not 4

  7. No. Every conference would love to have either of those teams.
  8. Never did I argue that. He said A&M sucks at the Big 3 sports and that just isn't accurate. Everyone focuses on the disappointment that has been Texas A&M football recently and just falsely assumes that the whole athletic program is terrible. Well I can compare 9 win football seasons if you want me to since i guess that is what A&M considers a "successful" season  At OU and Texas championships are all that matter. OU was in 40% of the BCS championship games in the 2000's and won 1 of them. Any other team in the big 12 would die for that but at Oklahoma there was quite a bit of people that wanted to fire stoops because he only won 1. That's the difference between a Texas/Oklahoma and everyone else.
  9. You are [expletive] clueless. Our football program has been down, but it is on the way back up. A 9-win season wouldn't surprise me this year. We still have work to do to catch Texas and OU. WTF is "qualifying" in regards to baseball? A&M won the conference tournament and were 1 win away from a Super Regional match-up with #3 Florida. And if you think think we suck at basketball, you may be too stupid to breathe. We are one of only TWO teams to advance to the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament the past 5 years. Pittsburgh is the other. We are not an elite program yet, but we are now a consistent Top 25 team. Did someone from A&M [expletive] your girlfriend or something? Let's just break it down by national championships in the big 3 sports. Texas - 6 baseball, 4 football Oklahoma - 7 football, 2 baseball A&M - 1 football (1939) Kansas - 3 basketball Tech - 0 Kansas State - 0 Oklahoma State - 2 basketball, 1 baseball Baylor - 0 Iowa State - 0 Missouri - 1 You can see that Texas and Oklahoma are ahead by a great deal, with OSU and Kansas being tied for third. Of course if you add in wrestling OSU blows everyone away, they have like 47 wrestling championships
  10. I know for a fact that A LOT of Aggie fans are sick to their stomach at their fave schools dependence of Texas. The ones I know were screaming to go to the SEC, but apparently the TAM leadership didn't listen what the fans wanted, but what their pockets wants. As for the Big 1+11-2 Conference, 5 years is highly unlikely. I'd give them half that time, before other schools in the conference have buyer's remorse and jump ship. like who? OU, aTm, and UT have no reason. They're making money hand over fist, and every other school is willing to smile and take it. Outside of Mizzou, no one else has any options to go. We've seen pretty clearly that no one is knocking down any doors to grab KSU, ISU, KU, or Baylor. Tech and Okie Lite are only worth a crap if they tag along w their big brothers. The conference will be fine as long as the big 3 are happy with their dough. Big three? There is not a big three. There are 2 teams in the big 12, OU and Texas. To put A&M on their level is hilarious. A&M sucks at football, basketball, and baseball. The only sport going on right now is baseball; OU is in the World Series, Texas made it to qualifying but lost to TCU, and A&M didn't even make it to qualifying and barely played .500 in the conference. At least Texas Tech had one good football season before OU put that down, A&M has always been worthless.
  11. Yeah, OU in the Big 10 isn't the best for them, even though it's what OU wanted all along *sigh*
  12. For whoever said that no one was wanting OU from the Atlanta Journal Constitution. I really hope we don't go to the SEC :beg:
  13. As an OU fan, this is awesome. Everyone fighting over my school, and Texas, can only help us in the long run. On the other hand, it must suck to be Kansas. They're awful at most sports but they do have a hell of a basketball program. I wonder what is going to happen to that when they end up in the Mountain West
  14. Surprised that no one has talked about this jimenez guy
  15. The thunder look like the 1 seed against the lakers right now, they've been dominating
  16. TTTTTTTTHHHHHHHHHHHHHHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNNNDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!
  17. you going to the game thursday? i'll be there. thinking about driving up and trying to scalp one for saturday, too. I was there, AWESOME! It was the loudest recorded playoff arena ever at 109db. The next highest was golden state at 102db Just for refrence 100db is front row at a rock concert and 115db is 100' from a jet engine. 85-95db is where hearing loss occurs from exposure. GO THUUUUUUUUUUNDER!
  18. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO THUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNDER
  19. I'm going to predict that wells goes 22-5 with a 2.07 ERA, book it
