'08 alum. First became a full fledged Boiler basketball fanatic when I got there in '02 with Willy Deane flying all over the court and Kenneth Lowe dropping shots from Slater Hill. Sounds like we've got a little overlap, I was there from '98 until '04 (graduated in December of '03). I think a lot of the other guys are more recent grads too. Da Bum is local (W.L. native) but not directly affiliated with the school. Can't speak for circlecitycub or grassbass, though. Ah, didn't know that. I just assumed I guess. I thought there was another guy, other than those three.

Scarey, thanks for doing the research on some of the things I was thinking. I didn't have the time to look that stuff up and didn't want to sound like a moron if I was claiming certain things that didn't in fact happen. So, we've got another Purdue fan... we've got to be the second biggest college basektball fan base on here now, right?

OK, someone convince me why Michigan State deserves a higher seed than Wisconsin. Green Bay? That can't seriously be enough. I think they're living on that 9-0 conference start. Wisconsin did get a beatdown on the road at Minnesota recently, but State has lost 4 out of their last 6 now and they're 2-4 against conference teams (both wins were at home) that should make the tourney. With a tough game, at Purdue this weekend, State could end up 2-5 against Big Ten tourney teams. Also, State's only good out of conference win was against Gonzaga. Yeah, they really shouldn't be a #4.

Today's Bracketology has Tennessee as a #6 seed. Also: Purdue #1 Ohio St. #3 Michigan St. (down to) #4 Wisconsin #5 Illinois (down to) #10

Bracketology projections from today: Purdue #1 Michigan St. #3 Ohio St. #3 Wisconsin #5 Illinois #8 Minnesota isn't even in the 'Next Four Out'. The Purdue guys have to know they're a lock to be a #1 seed if they win out. I wonder how they will react to the pressure against IL tomorrow.

I saw that. The only thing I noticed at a quick glance was the loss to Michigan and I was like, wait, we haven't even played them yet. Also, that traveling call on Iverson when he got under cut was amazingly BS. They must've all been wrong. They showed Illinois' profile earlier in the game, immediately after talking about Purdue beating Illinois to start their win streak. Illinois' profile showed beating Purdue as a key victory.

No one's denying that. But it really has only been the last 2/3 seasons, and I think it's awfully premature to be putting your program ahead of MSU, OSU and even Wisconsin and Illinois as far as overall status goes. If things stay this way for 3-4 more seasons, maybe. And I will concede that we're probably not having this discussion if not for the bum, but what he says sometimes takes ridiculous to a new level. Oh, I agree we're not ahead of those programs in recent years. I openly said beating MSU on the road (had Kalin Lucas not even played) would be an upset for Purdue. I openly said after Purdue's three game losing streak that getting a #2 seed in the dance would be almost impossible (with MSU, @ OSU, and Illinois left - I stand by this). Your quote in bold is the biggest part of the whole problem. I think another thing is that CCCub is right, why would Purdue fans be flocking to post here when the team was godawful? Well, that and I've got less than 2k posts in 7 years, heh. From the very long term perspective Purdue has been a good program, including a winning record against every team in the conference, conference championships, a decent amount of success in the tournament, etc. We've gone through spurts of terrible basketball for sure, but we're on the upswing now. That's all I'm saying.

Is anybody here talking about Michigan, Minnesota or Iowa? No, because they aren't very good and aren't located in the Chicagoland area. If a cabal of fans means about four then OK. But It's not like we're crawling out of the woodwork here. The Purdue hate from Illini fans, or fans of pretenders like ND or BSU is very similar to White Sox fans hate for the Cubs. Did my team win today? Nope. Oh well, Purdue still sucks. Classy. lol, wut? Oh, come on. CubbieBum says some off the wall crap, and because of that a lot of people around here hate Purdue. Purdue's program grew stagnant at the end of Keady's career but Painter has really energized the program. They've been in the top echelon of Big Ten teams recently and have the recruiting ball rolling (bringing in 4 star recruits). If you can't admit that, it's just blind hatred.

Yup need Purdue to beat State tonight, and Illinois to beat Wiscy, and we will have a 3 way tie for 1st in the Big Ten. If Purdue can pull off the upset (and I think it would be an upset even without Lucas - being on the road), there will be a 4 way tie in the loss column with OSU and Purdue being half a game back of State and Illinois/Wisconsin.
