I'm a Cubs/Bears/Blackhawks/Bulls/Purdue fan. She's a Brewers/Packers/Bucks/Wisconsin (from Green Bay) fan. The only team she'll support is the Blackhawks. This is what I get for marrying the enemy.

Whenever I see Garza now I think of his comments about the Cubs rebuilding and him wanting to play for a winner. He goes to a team that almost immediately starts a rebuild and he's pitching so shitty he can't get traded to a contender. Just cracks me up.

That's bad news for the Cubs. Hopefully they won't hire a competent person. Meh, Melvin was fine as a GM. He never had much in the way of a payroll to work with. So he took his time, put together a very competitive team for a few years, and is eating dust now that they've left their competitive window. He's not the guy I'd have heading up my list of candidates if I was an owner looking for a new GM. But he'd be a great GM for a team with a strong/involved team president. Right. He couldn't afford to keep Fielder, they gambled on trading for Sabathia and Greinke and couldn't afford to keep either of them. He turned out Fielder, Braun, Lucroy, Weeks, Hart, Hardy, traded for Sabathia, Greinke, Gomez, Lind, K-Rod. I'm sure I'm forgetting guys. He made some good moves. They just never had enough home grown pitching and couldn't afford to keep most guys, Braun got busted, etc...

It's too bad Majestic makes the sherseys. I have an old, mostly retired, Rizzo and newer Soler and Bryant shirts but it feels like the quality is kinda crappy on them.

Yeah, that's not what rape is about. Oh, it's smart? Don't be dense. What's wrong about saying if he raped someone it's stupid? Throwing your life away is stupid. Especially for a guy that has a hell of a lot to lose and pretty much hit the jackpot in life. Hopefully this is a money grab. The alternative being that one of our favorite athletes is a terrible person.

The upshot to yesterday's rainout, now we don't even have to run out 5th starter du jour in an important series. They didn't have to do that either way, all this is doing is moving Lester forward a day. Same 4 guys before and after the rain out. I like splitting up Lester and Arrieta. It prevents those three game series where neither pitch. I'm sure that makes no statistical difference, but it makes me feel better. :stickman: -
