The quality of umpiring was pretty poor in many ways today. That being said, we can't expect to win games started by Jeff Suppan or Blake Hawksworth.

Carpenter is giving up a higher amount of HRs these days, I believe due to age and losing a tick or two on his fastball (again, probably due to age). He doesn't really look like the same pitcher lately, but fortunately for Cards fans he's still been mostly effective. His elevated HR rate makes me a bit apprehensive about him pitching at Wrigley today. Wind, blow in, please.

If they do troll here, they're pretty sore winners. I don't think anyone rooting for St. Louis could have envisioned the two teams places essentially reversed from last year at the beginning of the season. Can't wait for the rivalry to start back up again next season, sincerely wishing you good luck in the offseason, NSBB.

1. True. 2. That's what we thought about Aaron Miles. I don't think anybody thought Miles was/is a valuable player Wouldn't have been signed for millions if someone up above Wrigley didn't think he was useful.
