  1. When Soriano busts out of his funk, he should still hit 5th or 6th. Once Ramirez gets back, I would go with a lineup like this: 1. Theriot - SS 2. Fukudome/Johnson platoon - CF 3. Ramirez - 3B 4. Lee - 1B 5. Bradley - RF 6. Soriano - LF 7. Soto - C 8. Fontenot/Baker platoon - 2B Then, if the second base thing isn't working out and we need offense, I would actually try Soriano at second and see what happens. If it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out. At least it allows us to get Hoff and Fox into the lineup. 1. Theriot - SS 2. Bradley - RF 3. Ramirez - 3B 4. Lee - 1B 5. Hoffpauir/Fox platoon - LF 6. Soriano - 2B 7. Soto - C 8. Fukudome/Johnson platoon - CF
  2. Sam Fuld is not a long-term option. He's our backup backup outfielder. We would be better off with Hoff in LF... but it looks like Soriano will be playing, and just dropped down in the lineup. I'm thrilled if that's the case. He was never a good lead-off hitter.
  3. Long-term, I still don't think it makes sense to start Fuld and keep Hoff on the bench. Maybe ride out his little hot streak, and then switch Hoff in there. Theriot is a perfectly competent leadoff man. I just hope Soriano is either benched or moved down in the lineup. I'm sick of it.
  4. WHAT?!? BUT THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A WALK-OFF HIT! NO FAIR!
  5. The Brewers need to have a meeting on the mound about how to deal with future first-ballot hall of famer Sam Fuld. FEAR THE SPARK
  6. Uh-oh. I have a really bad feeling about this. Gregg has to pitch to Braun and he's gonna have that HBP and dropped fly on his mind...
  7. All those moves sound good to me. It would also be awesome if we could find away to sneak Aaron Miles into a deal for a bullpen arm. Maybe other teams don't realize he's Aaron Miles...
  8. I am outraged that Soriano is back in the leadoff spot. Will Lou ever realize? FWIW, I'd rather have Hoffpauir out in left rather than Fuld (that is, after Fuld's little hot streak is over).
  9. OH MY GOD See, all Lou had to do was throw his hat and bench Soriano!
  10. What a great start to an important series...
  11. If all we gave up was that minor leaguer... I don't mind the deal. Him and Fontenot could make a good platoon.
  12. This reminds me alot of our series vs Milwaukee last year. The Brewers had nearly passed us in the division, we had been struggling and the Brewers were hot. I felt really nervous going into the series, thinking that we were gonna lose our lead. Then, all the sudden, we came to life and swept them in 4 games. That was possibly the biggest series of 2008... we never looked back after that. Plus, Lou flipped out and threw his hat yesterday... so that means this is the part where we go on a tear for the rest of the season and win the WS. I certainly hope so anyway. This is a huge series, regardless.
  13. That doesn't make any sense. You hate wasted possessions, but like John Salmons? Yes. Salmons doesn't have the same problem Gordon does. Gordon gets the ball, and then decides he's going to shoot it no matter what. Even if he's triple-teamed, he'll still throw up a terrible shot, totally off balance. Every once in awhile he makes them, and then it looks like he's good, but he's just not playing smart. Nothing about Salmons' game jumps out at me the way it does with Gordon's.
  14. I think we'll be better off without Ben Gordon. Less wasted possessions. I'm a big fan of John Salmons and I think we'll be fine going with Rose and him in the backcourt, with Hinrich rotating. Deng will be able to start at the three again, and hopefully he'll return to his old self. I like Tyrus, but I do not like Noah. I would rather start Miller. I think we could do well with a lineup like this: 1. Rose. 2. Salmons 3. Deng 4. Tyrus 5. Miller Long term... I would try to bring in someone that can play center, though. I think we can groom Tyrus into an awesome forward. I'm assuming Bosh could play center. I think we have a great young core right now, though.
  15. I'd give them Soriano and Miles for Luis Castillo. I think it would make us better offensively this year... allowing us to platoon Fox and Hoff in left, and giving us an actual leadoff hitter that plays second and gets on base. 1. Castillo 2. Theriot 3. Ramirez 4. Bradley 5. Lee 6. Hoffpair/Fox 7. Soto 8. Fukudome But of course this is all just fun talk and none of this is going to happen.
  16. At this point the only guy I'm worried about is Soriano. Kosuke has been hanging in there, still getting on base, etc... and I think Bradley is gonna hit. Just a hunch. I think we probably couldn't go wrong with Fox/Johnson/Hoffpair, though.
  17. I love how Torre is voted one of the top managers in both categories. How does that make sense?
  18. This team minus Zambrano is not going to win anything at all. I realize he may be overpaid, but it would make alot more sense to move Soriano. And giving Z away for nothing would be just about the worst move we could make. I think maybe if we fall out of contention entirely and we become sellers, maybe trading Zambrano might be something to CONSIDER. And that's only if we can get something good in return for him... giving him away would be crazy. But as far as getting rid of him to improve our chances THIS YEAR, that's one of the worst ideas I've heard in quite awhile.
  19. I actually think I like Ozzie as a manager. I don't like him much as a person, though... and he is certainly not very bright. His logic is so funny, though. I think if you can only sell tickets when you're winning, that shows that you have no real fan base. It doesn't make your fans smart.
  20. Apparently Theriot actually played shortstop his whole life, and that is his regular/natural position. I think he was only playing second because that's where we needed him. When he was asked, "Hey, Theriot, can you play shortstop?" he responded "I AM a shortstop". I think Len or Bob was where I heard that story... if I remember correctly.
  21. We probably aren't capable of making the postseason with our current bullpen. And if we do, it'll be another one-and-out. Good hitters will tear up the garbage that we send out to the mound...
  22. Um... yeah... if the player happens to have a no-trade clause, which Mark DeRosa does not. If he did, I'm pretty sure he never would have allowed the trade to Cleveland in the first place.
