  1. That Brewers lineup is certainly uninspiring. Hopefully Hendricks can have a good night. And hopefully there are lots of dongs.
  2. Stop if you've heard this before, but Chesny Young is on base again. This time with an RBI single.
  3. I'm not sure I'm ready to drop Gleyber down. The strikeouts are ugly. He got off to a troubling start in that regard, with 9 in his first 4 games. He seems to have a little better grasp on them since then. But, he's walking a lot and hitting for a little pop. The .238 BABIP is dragging him down quite a bit, too. I'm gonna need to see the K% drop back down to around 20%. But, so far, I think he's handling A+ OK for a 19-year-old. That being said, yeah, it's close on those top 4. Contreras and Gleyber were already really close for me. And Almora and Happ are quickly rising up with their great starts. I'm not sure exactly how I would rank them if I had to right now. I defer back to my pre-season ranks. But, around mid-season, they could all flip-flop pretty easily.
  4. That Tennessee lineup is loaded. And they are all so patient and disciplined. They are the mini-Cubs. Billy McKinney's been the only real disappointment so far.
  5. Goldschmidt's about to dong.
  6. Also, the Pirates are only 11-9, despite a team BABIP of .351.
  7. This all happened after their announcers started talking about how awesome their bullpen has been this year. They -- incorrectly -- thought they had the best bullpen ERA in the league. They no longer have such a nice ERA. In fact, their bullpen ERA now falls in line with their xFIP and FIP, which they had been outperforming.
  8. I love it, because they are still this much worse than us, despite inexplicable things like Hazelbaker donging and Almedys Diaz being the best hitter in baseball. What happens when Almedys Diaz is no longer the best hitter in baseball?
  9. Whoa... We just posted the same threads and then gave the same replies to each other's threads.
  10. Great minds think alike.
  11. Well, Jean Segura just got to the Cards, too. 4-4 tonight and just hit a 3-run shot to give the Diamondbacks a 7-5 lead.
  12. Lots of good stuff in Iowa tonight. Vogelbach is 2-3, with the homer, 2 BB, 1 K. Contreras is 2-5 with 0 K. Almora is 3-5, with a 2B, and 0 K. Alcantara (is he even worth discussing?) is 2-4, with a 2B, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 SB.
  13. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-cubs-are-the-best-base-running-team-too/ This is ostensibly about how we are the best base-running team in the league. But, it really encapsulates the essence of this team. It touches on how we have an awesome offense, awesome pitching, and awesome defense, too. It talks about how we are making considerably more contact this year. It talks about how the young guys are striking out less. It talks about how Zobrist and Heyward have influenced our offense. It shows why the Jason Heyward signing was so damn awesome, because he is such a great all-around player, picking up value all over the field. Essentially it is the recorded testimony of everything great that we've seen.
  14. How are we supposed to Royals this thing when we've already had multiple votes for different Cubs at the same position? Vote the nine Cubs listed and be done with it.
  15. Chesny Young and D.J. Wilson here for me. I really like D.J. Wilson. I'm very anxious to see how he fares this year. Young is starting to become interesting. I would like to see a little more pop than he's shown. I was afraid he would struggle against tougher competition. But he's thriving in AA right now. The BB/K ratio is fantastic. And he gives you some value on the bases. He's definitely shooting up my list if he keeps this up. After those two, there are a bunch of pitchers that I like. I don't even know who belongs where. I do know that my philosophy is "F pitchers," though. So I am cool with waiting a bit to get into them.
  16. His FIP and xFIP are both negative now. Is that good? I think so. Unfortunately he is under-performing his peripherals with his 0.00 ERA.
  17. Carl Edwards Jr. has now walked 7 guys in 7 innings this year.
  18. His FIP and xFIP are both negative now.
  19. Breaking news: Jason Heyward is better than Miguel Montero.
