  1. He looks fine to me. Living on the edges. He just made a bad pitch. Or maybe not...

  3. They should move a fielder right next to Garcia.
  4. Looks like Pudge Rodriguez behind the dish, if you ask me.
  5. I remember someone predicting this exact scenario playing out. But, Matheny kept Diaz in the 8-hole when he was OPS'ing 3.000 or whatever for a whole month, and then he finally moved him up to the two-hole and Diaz has a .572 OPS there in 112 PA. And he hasn't move him back down yet.
  6. Honestly, I don't care. Let's see what Almora, Contreras and Javy are all about. The race for the division is over. And we are too good for this to hurt us, anyway. As long as he's back healthy for the post-season, let's see what else have and get a better idea about what we are working with next year. The Coghlan trade looks auspicious now, too.
  7. Well, crap. Stupid hamstring injuries. Oh well, at least we have a 12.5 game lead and have a gaggle of All-Stars all over the field, with stud young prospects to fill in everywhere else.
  8. Well, that didn't take long. They must believe that Miggy is either hurt and not telling them or actually just sucks now. And they just don't give a horsefeathers either way.
  9. Willson Contreras was exposed and passed over in the Rule 5 Draft and a year and a half later he is batting behind Anthony Rizzo for a 47-20 team.
  10. So much youth. I can't wait to see them dong all over the Cardinals.
  11. 1) I wasn't in your good graces before? :( 2) I've got a few more games before I'm in Butters/Mojo territory. I'm currently 4-1 (not sure why the game thread starters thread says I'm 2-2, this is my 2nd turn around starting threads so I haven't lost my 2nd game yet). Butters and soccer10k each have 6 wins. Mojo has 7. 3) I'm just glad I have a winning record. 13 of the 16 members who have started game threads have .500 records or better. That alone speaks volumes as to how good the Cubs have been this season. Haha... I meant more so than before. And, yeah, those records are nice, but their runs didn't feature a Willson Dong on his first pitch seen in the big leagues. It's not all about quantity of wins.

  13. Man, he's got such a beautiful swing. And I love that he has a little bit of an attitude, too. I hope in the catching meetings that Schwarber's giving him lessons on how to pimp his dongs.
  14. The meatball side of me really liked when, after he hit that homer, they sent him out to help warm up guys in the bullpen. "Alright, Rook, that was impressive, but you've still got some horsefeathers to learn. Back to work." I'm not sure exactly what the process is with him. But, I think they'll figure it out. And Montero and Ross are two great guys to learn from. I'm sure if he keeps hitting, his role will become larger. I think the bat's probably there already. They probably felt that he had seen enough of the minor leagues as a hitter. And maybe they felt that he wasn't going to be motivated enough working behind the plate, knowing that he belonged on a big league roster. Maybe this is a better way for him to develop defensively, even though he's not getting the same reps. I don't know; but I trust we'll make it work.
  15. No thanks. I'd rather not diminish him. I'm just going to continue pretending that he is Backstop Bryce Harper instead.
  16. The Logan is in my good graces right now. His run of games is getting awfully close to surpassing Butters' and Mojo's. Maybe I'm just Dong Drunk from tonight. But, this was a very enjoyable weekend. If The Logan leads us to a sweep of the Cards, too...
  17. Yeah. I'm trying not to overreact to literally one pitch. But Contreras started mashing last year and just hasn't stopped, through several stops. I want to see some data on his framing. And I want to see if Miggy can bounce back. If he's injured, that's probably the best hope right now. Maybe he just needs to get healthy. But, he's been hot garbage. At this point I don't care too much about how often guys play. We're so freaking good, it doesn't really matter. But, if things continue as they have, then Contreras could play a big part in our post-season plans.
