  1. So holding in a horsefeathers affects velocity?
  2. Why is Matt Garza pitching like he is Kyle Hendricks?
  3. They were the only ones that were even scary, at all. Now... not so much. We have, by far and away, the best team in the NL. And the only other really good team is now merely good like the rest of them. That doesn't mean much come playoff time. But it does mean something.
  4. The Yankees' position player with the highest fWAR has played in 30 games. Their pitcher with the second-most fWAR is a relief pitcher. They are 4.5 games out of first in the frightening AL East.
  5. Mainly this was my thing. Not to mention that Matt Bush is notorious for other things, like almost killing someone, which makes him an odd guy to bring up. Yeah, I think all references to O.J. Simpson as a football player were put on hold once he decided to murder people. There are plenty of other running backs you can compare people to, without having to preface your statement with: "except for the murdering."
  6. I don't mind Hammel too much. Looking at the totality of his stints with the Cubs: 2014 First-half Hammel helped us get Addison Russell. 2015 First-half Hammel pitched really well when the offense wasn't doing much early in the year. Second-half Hammel didn't hurt us too much because the offense went insane, and Joe basically used his starts as Bullpen Games. 2016 First-half Hammel lucked his way into very good results thanks to a combination of our defense, sequencing, and plain old good luck. And we built up such a big lead that it really doesn't matter how bad Second-Half Hammel is. I didn't care too much about him complaining about the quick yank a couple weeks ago because there's not much to care about right now. Last year, it pissed me off a lot whenever he bitched about being taken out. But whatever. His teammates seem to like him enough. And he uses Pearl Jam as walk-up music. So I'm cool with him as a person. And he doesn't cost much and ate up some innings. The one thing that really pissed me off was when Second-Half Hammel somehow became even worse in the playoffs last year, but it didn't matter too much in the end, with two blowout series. So thanks for the innings again this year, and when the playoffs come around:
  7. Tim F. Surely this is some relief pitcher named Tim that I've never heard of and not Tim Federowicz. Right? Nope.
  8. It really speaks to how well-rounded this team is, though. When you are good at every facet of the game, you can win in whatever fashion you please. I've read a lot of stupid [expletive] in the last year or so, about, "Oh, well the playoffs are different. The pitching is better. And we can't just rely on hitting home runs. What are they going to do if the bats aren't going?" Well, this team is showing that, no, they don't even need the dong to win. Oh yeah, a win is a win, and I love that this team isn't just a bunch of donging freaks like the Cardinals who suck at everything else. I just yearn for dongs. Most definitely. There's nothing better than an enormous dong. And they'll come. And it will be glorious.
  9. I figure they're just building up the reserve and then they're going to unleash a dong-flood in the postseason like they did last year. It really speaks to how well-rounded this team is, though. When you are good at every facet of the game, you can win in whatever fashion you please. I've read a lot of stupid horsefeathers in the last year or so, about, "Oh, well the playoffs are different. The pitching is better. And we can't just rely on hitting home runs. What are they going to do if the bats aren't going?" Well, this team is showing that, no, they don't even need the dong to win.
  10. Ho hum. The bats are still kinda quiet, as Sofa alluded to earlier. Yet, we keep rolling through everyone in our path.
  11. This baseball season seems like it flew by -- possibly because it's mainly been a cakewalk for our big league club. I'll echo the comments of the others. Thanks for all the work you've done in here, CR. We do have some interesting playoff action at the lower levels still, though, guys!
  12. I want 108. Twice as many wins as losses. 19-6 gets it done.
  13. Disgusting. Time to start giving Schwarber some pinch-hit ABs to make amends.
  14. There is at least one Aaron that posts here... Hey, it's only 16.5 games. You never know!
  15. You know you're watching a weird baseball game when Travis Wood works a 1-2-3 inning.
