  1. Speaking of that I joined a league recently and half of my team hasn't played baseball in 15-30 years. It's high-arc and they pile up the Ks. It's pretty brutal to be a part of. It sounds like too many of them are obsessed with their swing path.
  2. I don't think it's real fair to bash the offense tonight since it's basically a majority of minor league/young kids, but damn I'd love to score here.
  3. I'm not opposed to going to the bullpen now. Let Eddie depart with some confidence.
  4. I would take all of that and be happy. Here's to hoping you are right, Duke. I trust you more than me.
  5. This is fair. But that's also what was said at the beginning of June. Now it will be said at the beginning of July. The goal posts keep having to be moved, and that sucks. That said, I'm also not worried about them for the simple fact that the Cubs could finish fifth and we'd still have a championship within the past 12 months. It sort of takes the edge off. Who is moving goalposts? I've never claimed we'd run away with this division by the start of June or by the start of July. It's going to take awhile. We have to start playing better (which we have). And it takes awhile to separate from a team that is ahead of you. There's not going to be some magical 20-game winning streak starting tomorrow that puts them in the dust. Not you moving them. Just the general consensus. I would have thought with as garbage as the Brewers are thought to be that many would have projected us in first by the end of June since we didn't have many games to make up in a month to put us there. OK. Let's get specific. At around what date will the Cubs be in first? And at around what date will we be five games up on the field? I also want to make sure you realize that I ask these things because I have the utmost respect for Duker's knowledge rather than trying to pin you on exact dates.

  7. I just hope a hot streak that I assume you and others project us to get on does indeed happen. I'm waiting for it, although admittedly I want it right now. I know you guys made fun of the Brewers going like a game under .500 against the Pirates, Padres and Braves, which does deserve some mocking. But we just went 7-6 against the Mets, Pirates, Padres and Marlins. Those teams are either the same ones they played or worse than the Braves. The one game above .500 during this easyish stretch is exactly the one game above we are for the season. We need to do better. Maybe they shock people and beat up on the Nats and get this party started, although I'm not sure how optimistic even the elite players on this board are of that happening the next four days.
  8. Good for them. They'll be happy to know they made it to July in first place, when they finish with 71 wins and are 17 games behind the Cubs. Dang. I knew you had said fewer than 75 but didn't know it was 71. Going 30-54 the rest of the way would be epic.
  9. I think they had a good offensive day today, just had some bad luck/didn't get the big hits. They had 8 hits and 7 walks, keep doing that and the runs will come. All I know is that Duke said this might be the final day the vaunted Brewers were ahead of the Cubs in the standings for the rest of this decade and he lied.
  10. I vote for meatball mode. This game thread needs some entertainment. nah i want to be right and not feel sheepish when the cubs inevitably win this game. You have been pretty good at these comeback calls this season. I think the win against the Rockies was your most recent. Do it again.

  12. Excellent pitch by Pedro after getting Stanton to swing and miss on a pitch that almost ended up in the dugout.
  13. I feel like this isn't even close, but it's an opinion so I can't say you're wrong.
  14. We have allowed multiple first inning runs in 18 of our 75 games. That seems like a lot.
  15. When the Cubs won the division three weeks earlier? It's a good opportunity for some minor league players to pad their stats and build up trade value before the off-season. We aren't trading Schwarber.
  16. This swag will be even better once we are actually ahead of the vaunted Brewers in the standings. The Cubs are already ahead in the loss column. This is true. Of course they have played three more games, but maybe we can win all three.
