  2. It’s a bit of a relief rosters expand in the middle of it and Darvish could be back around expansion time too
  3. We care about the Cardinals? We care about the Brewers? After Wednesday hopefully we can be done thinking of them
  4. We care about the Cardinals? Well if we lost tonight they’d be 4.5 back and they are one of the hottest teams in baseball. Deserves to be in the back of our minds at least even if it’s unlikely they continue to play like this Eh, I guess. Still think they are nothing to worry about. They’ll get their ~83 wins and miss the playoffs.

  6. The Cubs have scored more runs than any team in the NL and have a 3 game lead on every team in the NL. Spot on. We have three or four guys struggling. Play Zobrist until he dies and hope others can figure it out. I’m fine with slow playing it with Zobrist because we need him for the playoffs. Don’t push him until we have to, give the old man his adequate rest.
  7. Well, let’s go win a MF’ering series tomorrow and move on
  8. Ah, I've seen him next to his Dad. Unfortunately, I don't think KB is going to age well. I know, I know... most players don't age well, but I have a bad feeling about KB in his late thirties. You should have bad feelings about all players in their late 30s. Good thing that’s a decade away +/- for KB.
  9. Good to see Russell and Schwarber square the ball up the last two days a few times each.
  10. Runs per game seem pretty normal lately over about any stretch you want to pick. A few clunkers (like always) but mostly 3-5+ runs. Just taking a quick look at the schedule going back ~2 weeks.
  11. With the off day Monday and Thursday pretty sure we can skip Lester’s start at least the next time through if not two more times through. At the least he could get a solid 7 days rest before his next start and hopefully, somehow, that helps.
  12. He seemed absolutely finished that year, it’s crazy the year he had last year
  13. Agree. Skip him, hope a few days extra rest gets him righted a little to at least be a ~4 era pitcher. Bullpen it with Chavez/De LaRosa, call up underwood, etc
  14. Get Chatwood in. Maybe he’ll kill Murphy with an errant ball.
  15. Monty should take a start from Lester when he comes back from his break. Let Jon take like a 7-9 day rest. Hope that helps
  16. until they sweep the cubs next week I’m actually wondering who we’ll be cheering for when the Cards and Brewers face off next weekend. They are inching closer to each other. Biblical floods
  17. When Ross came here and started doing that, I thought it was sorcery. Like it never crossed my mind to really be a thing. It is and was amazing.
  18. His command has always been shakey. Idk how he’s much more than replacement levelish with his 88-92 MPH FB wild in the zone with no real breaking or offspeed pitch About 12 Ks/9 is pretty good. Must have some pretty good movement in his pitches, which might explain the wildness at times. Yeah he’s getting results but he throws like 80% FB in the 88-92 range and it seems like it’s more deception than movement from when I watch. His curve is very pedestrian
  19. His command has always been shakey. Idk how he’s much more than replacement levelish with his 88-92 MPH FB wild in the zone with no real breaking or offspeed pitch
  20. Below is a picture of smoke and a mirror, it's largely representative as to how Ole' Jon has gotten through the year. He somehow has a sub 3.5 ERA while not pitching particularly well. Hopefully Jon can find a way to keep the regression monster at bay and give us a good start and figure out a way to get back to his old ways of tricks and illusions Let's get a heater going
