  1. The Cubs have won 7 of 10 and everyone thinks they’re in a tailspin This sounds an awful lot like last year, though. Not exactly a comfortable feeling. If the Cardinals go play like .800 baseball from August to the end of September like the Brewers did last year there isn’t much you can do
  2. There is no reinventing. It’s not like Bote who was hitting the piss out of the ball on the ground and needed a swing tweak to get a little more launch. Almora just horsefeathering sucks.
  3. Win tomorrow and we’re back to the vaunted 11 over .500 number going in to the Vaunted Brewers series, it’s destiny
  4. The Cubs have won 7 of 10 and everyone thinks they’re in a tailspin
  5. After they got out of the 5th up 4 I’ve felt fine
  6. How isn’t this the best use of the pen? He’s using the best options right now. It seems smart. horsefeathering Hendricks being a giant horsefeathering nerd fucked this all up
  7. VBs beat the Cardinals, would be a big game to win you idiots
  8. Oh I definitely feel mostly this way, my previous posts were just more on what I could see happening and what they’re thinking. I’d prefer keeping KB and doing other stuff this offseason (Trade Schwarbs and re-sign Castellanos and trade for Merrifield being by preferred route as the big offense moves).
  9. Yeah, I had my earlier "Trade Rizzo for a couple of baller prospects, and then flip those baller prospects plus whatever is needed in house to get Lindor" idea, but Bryant makes that much more likely to pull off. Lindor is both infinitely more awesome, and it seems like it would be a much easier to sell extensions to him and Baez. Let Bryant take his squints so damn much he looks like he's on the verge of tears in nearly every AB-face somewhere else. I’d rather get Mookie than Lindor using this similar train of thought. Also as an FYI from a LT perspective we are at $210 MIL +/- going in to next year (this includes a non-tender/whatever with Russell), we probably go in to the 230s, moving Bryant and Schwarbs clears up about $25 mil. So we’d have about $50 mil to play with doing that (depending what comes back in trades). We could go big on a guy like Rendon or Cole or spread it out and probably be able to fit in like all of Castellanos, Moustakas a good RP and SP and trade for Merrifield/his money.
  10. I do think there’s a real chance he’s moved this offseason. Trading him to get prospects and a decent cheap major leaguer(s) makes some sense and then signing/trading for some combo of Rendon, Cole, Castellanos, Moustakas and Merrifield or other guys who become available in trade. I think he’s ultimately kept because you need a lot to come together in moving a player like him but I unfortunately get why they’d do it.
  11. Jesse just said on MLB Radio that Willy is back in the September 5th-7th range, first time I’ve heard hard dates on him. But that’s good, that’s potentially next weekend.
  12. Kyle can absolutely go shot for shot with Syndergaard but it isn’t gonna be easy to pull out one of the next two. Syndergaard is on a pretty good roll right now of 7+ IP in 6 of last 8 starts and 6+ in all 8, 3+ ER only once in those 8 starts, 2ER or less in 7 of them.
  13. Everyone apologize to Yu
  14. He’s pitched once in 10 days (like last Saturday or Friday), he almost had to be hurt to not be used in this spot.
  15. What a beautiful game of offense the last 2-3 innings after that turd of a start
