  1. Good luck losing against seattle's backups
  2. So how much do you have grossman play next week? Don't want him injured but he needs practice
  3. Weird time for the defense to show up. Sacks, an int, yay. Giant sigh of relief.
  4. I really loathe the packers. Well, that's a better punt... ugh, I really don't want to watch this
  5. yay. I was really worried about getting possession. WHAT? wow, never see that called
  6. didn't thikn they'd kick it, you don't get that close all that often.
  7. finally some good tackling there. If they blow the onside kick.... ugh
  8. somewhat gutsy call to go for it there. why throw it to double coverage?
  9. what a relief to have a somewhat competent qb.
  10. well, no different than a punt really.
  11. I'm not sure, but I think they had 2 seconds or so between the game clock and play clock. short enough they could have thrown the ball and run the time out if they wanted to though
  12. is that a "let's go bears" chant?
  13. what a jump on the ball!!! nice, briggs
  14. Maybe jones didn't hear all that stuff about "holes" and doesn't understand that he's supposed to run to them?
  15. very frustrating to watch this defense fail to stop guys from getting 3 extra yards every play. Andc harris with 3 serious screwups so far Thanks for not having a kicker, GB
  16. Uh, .415 SLG? Giles last year in a pitchers paradise had a line of: .301/.423/.483 His OBP is better than the SLG of the guy you prefer at 7m. And, it only takes 1 Brian Giles to fill that hole rather than 2 guys to do the work of 1. Put Giles back in the hitter friendly NL Central and watch his SLG go back over .500 easily. He's been over .600 SLG twice in his career and in the NL Central. I am speaking of expectations for Giles as the next 3 years take him to the decline of his career. If we can use expectations to poorly judge Jones then we should at least be fair and say that it would be expected for Giles to decline more the next 3 years then exceed his previous career norms. My point was that you can pay 2 players 5 million less and get effective numbers. The ultimate question is if Giles' production is worth the difference between the 2 situations. One of the arguments have been that $5 million is too much for Jones. Then the train of thought would then say that the 7 million dollar difference is worth it for the production difference that you would get from Jones to Giles. I disagree. I would love to see how many runs difference just the Pecota projections for the 2 players are. Then we can see how much each run would cost and then it would be a better gauge. If adding Giles over Jones would mean 100 added runs, then each run would equal $70K. Is it worth it in this scenario? Did the Cubs lose the division last season by 100 runs? And a decline for giles outside of petco would be an increase in his slg, not a stupendously large decrease
  17. If you believe his story, sure. Heck, he essentially admits in his confession that he has a strong reason to lie about when and why he took them.
  18. Of course. Nothing is unexpected with this organization. Nothing. Winning
  19. Ok, so WORST we can do is 10-6 for the year and not win the division. Current NFC seeds; 1 SEA 12-2 2 CHI 10-4 3 NYG 10-4 4 CAR 10-4 5 TB 9-5 t6 ATL 8-6 t6 WAS 8-6 t6 DAL 8-6 Ok, we have the obvious tiebreak on ATL. WAS would have the tiebreak on us. I'm betting we'd have some sort of tiebreak on DAL if came down to it. WAS' final 2 are vs NYG and @ PHI. Hard, but possible, for them to go 10-6. DAL's final 2 are @ CAR and vs STL. I see 1-1 there for the 'Boys. So basically, root for the NYG to win next Saturday so that clinches the Bears a playoff spot. [and then watch as the Bears clinch the division by beating the Pack on Christmas evening! :D] No, you root against the giants, because theyre the only team that could beat the bears out for the #2 spot.
  20. btw.. bears win! what a fun game
  21. If the game doesn't matter, but Orton out there :P Hmm now there is an interesting question. If the Bears win next week, do you sit Gman and start Orton so there is no chance he gets hurt, or do you want Gman to get some more game experience? eh... it's not like we have a lead on the giants. we can't risk a game
