The idea that a business could not fire a single employee for being bad at one of the most desirable jobs in the country for a 20 year period seems absurd, especially when we can watch, day to day, the calls that Angel Hernandez blows that a large majority of other umpires do not.

Actually, it's completely at the discretion of the home plate umpire whether he wants check with the 1st or 3rd base umpire. He is not obligated to ask them, it's his call. Only a complete jerk with an unrealistic view of his abilities calls that on his own. The man is a terrible umpire and this is just another example. Ego is just about the worst thing you can have in an umpire/referee/judge

No, home plate umpire, you do not make that call. You ask the third base umpire.

Going by OPS, May is actually historically his worst month: March/April: .899 May: .734 June: .959 July: .883 August: .841 September/October: .872 And Lee has been at/near his peak the last few Aprils. Back in 2004-5 you could say he was a bad April/May player. -
