I see. So when is the cut off for "it's recent enough to be relevant"? I'm going to guess right around the time Illinois went to the National Championship game? Anything before that doesn't matter, right? How long do you get to hang your hat on that exactly? This post is just embarrassing. I was told "almost every big ten team has been more successful [than Purdue]". I responded by stating that they have the most Big Ten Championships and a winning record against every Big Ten School. Than I'm told (paraphrasing) "that doesn't count". I'm just trying to get the rules right here. So you tell me, has almost every Big Ten team been more successful than Purdue? That has nothing to do with why your post was embarrassing...which makes this one even more embarrassing. And yes, in the NCAA Tournament era, which is plenty long enough now, almost every Big Ten team has been more successful than Purdue. Purdue easily clears Penn State, Nebraska and Northwestern, though, so keep that chin up! So, we're only judging teams by their NCAA tourney accomplishments? Just making sure I have this right now. So in the last five years, Purdue's 5 NCAA tourney bids and 7-5 record is better or worse than Illinois' 3 NCAA tourney bids and 1-3 record? Or does this not count either because Weber was the coach?

Jay Simpson is one of them. Scout found them all to be 4 star recruits. Are we talking historically here? Purdue is leading the all time record at a record of 112-84 against Indiana. Purdue has a winning record against every Big Ten school in fact and have the most Big Ten Championships. Other than IU, I find it hard to believe any Big Ten school has had more success than Purdue. I have to admit though, this was a nice trolling recovery for you. I just had to bite on this one.

7 in a row, baby. Oh, and it's hard to get under other fans' skin when your program is in the dumps. At least the Hoosiers can point to their banners... Yes and this is your boom period. Way to go. You guys are world beaters. Actually, this is an ebb period for Purdue. Since the Johnson, Moore, Hummel, and Martin recruiting class, Painter has only brought in one 4 star recruit, Terone Johnson. There's four 4 star recruits coming in next year and two more committed for 2013/2014. I like Purdue's chances against Illinois going forward given the fact that a bunch of three star recruits, Terone Johnson, and a hobbled Robbie Hummel can hold down the Illini.

We did really well from '99-'06. i imagine if we could find out what changed and addressed that we could probably do really well again. Oh wait, I think we all found it. You're assuming that the next coach will be definitively better. It seems you haven't considered that it could get worse.

Wow, apparently I should have been keeping tabs here while watching the game last night. Good stuff. Can't wait till next year when Purdue starts getting good players again. Luck and skill? How can Illini fans hope to compete?

Not sure. Based on my own experience with a nasty hand/wrist injury, I think it would it take around 4 weeks before he could start rehab, then another 4-6 weeks of rehab and strengthening. Of course, he also has to get his shooting touch and legs back after such a long layoff (cardio work off the court isn't really the same as staying game shape). So maybe between 2 and 3 months? Is that how long it took you? Or is that how long you feel it would take a world class athlete with access to top of the line medical teams, trainers, and rehab personell? No offense of course, I'm just surprised by your estimations. It's his non-shooting hand. I can't imagine it taking more than a month to recover from if that. I almost expect him to be on the court next week. He may not come back playing as well as he was, but he still should be able to drive the lane and finish with his right hand and play great defense. Think about it this way. Jay Cutler broke a bone in his throwing hand and surgery to have pins placed in it. They were estimating 4-6 weeks for him.

I just like to see imb! and SSR making post after post feeling like their trolling and wasting other people's time only to see me stroll in after the matter and have a good laugh about it. 10 minutes of reading two guys trying to convince themselves that Rose is overrated is anything but a waste of time.

I dunno, it's hard for me to understand how people can still get annoyed at the religious stuff. Tebow has been in the spotlight for five years now and his faith has been in our faces the entire time. It does seem over-the-top, but at this point I hardly notice, except when he's praying to God on the sidelines about the outcome of a football game. So because he's done the same thing for that long means we can't get annoyed by it? Nonsense. It makes it a hell of a lot more likely(combined with his upbringing and missionary trips) that he's not putting on an act. I think I worded that wrong. I don't think he's putting on a complete act. The guy is clearly engrained in his beliefs. More like he's playing into it a bit. I think he clearly understands that he is benefiting from expressing his religious beleifs and is taking advantage of it a bit. He was asked what was running through his mind on the game winning catch and he responded, "Well first of all, thank the lord. Then ...[talked about celebrating with teammates, etc]". That just seems like a forced reaction to me.

Without having really watched much of Tebow's post game comments, does he really thank Jesus that many times usually? He was starting to sound like Ricky Bobby. I was starting to wonder if he had an endorsement contract with Jesusbrand or something. I get celebrating his religion and I for one kind of respect the fact that he's willing to take any criticism that comes with it (even though I'm not really a Christian), but it really felt like more of an act that anything. It seems like he's taking advantage of the attention he's getting because of it and that to me is pretty annoying.

I think this is the wrong mindset. This is how it looks when a team has a bunch of bloated, underperforming contracts and needs to unload and rebuild from the ground up. Yes, 2012 is going to suck. But it shouldn't be viewed as a single, crappy year. It should be viewed as the beginning of something that will grow into success. If they were making more positive moves that were geared toward the future I would agree. But, Volstad is not a long term move. If he does turn out to be an above average pitcher he will get very expensive quickly. I guess what I would like to see more than anything is a move that actually makes the Cubs better in the future. Just because Volstad will be eligible for free agency relatively soon, does not mean he can't be a long term move. While acquiring cost controlled talent is a goal for this regime, part of the equation is also acquiring young talent. The guy is 25. He's a high risk high reward type. If the high reward comes around, I don't think the Cubs should have any problem ponying up the money to keep his services.

That's a personel issue. So are we throwing it just to throw it or are we throwing it because we're good at it? That's my point. It's a passing league, but the Bears shouldn't be passing just because everyone else is. They suck at it, so they should run more because they were actually good at it. the bears suck at passing? jay cutler WAS the offense for the past 3 years. he was all alone fighting zombies on an alien homeworld and he was good at it. He's not saying Cutler sucks at throwing the ball. He's saying the Bears do. The Bears are not a great pass blocking team. The Bears drop a lot of throws. The Bears sometimes bail on routes that lead to interceptions. The Bears sometimes have some inappropriate play calls that lead to sacks. They need to get better at these things before they throw more IMO.

Even though I'm not a huge TE advocate, you're comletely ignoring the main feature a TE brings to the table and that's TD catches. I'm too lazy to look it up, but I'd be interested to see how many TEs are in the top 30 for reception TDs. http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/player/_/stat/scoring/sort/receivingTouchdowns 5. And 4 more between 31-40. Well.. I expected it to be more. EDIT: Upon looking at the list myself, I counted 6 in the top 30. I think that's enough to show that the TE is a significant scoring contributer.
