  1. Caleb has now had 7 game winning drives in the final 2 minutes of the 18 games he's started. Two of those (Washington and Minnesota last year) ended in losses. If the Bears keep this close, I like their chances much more with Williams vs. Minnesota's chances with McCarthy.
  2. Both things can be true.
  3. If I'm Johnson, I'm taking the fine and calling out the horrendous officiating. Feel free to call me a meatball. I deserve it.
  4. Lol. That last 4 plays was such a microcosm of this whole game. Poor executing from the Bears offense. Inexplicable no TD on the Williams sneak AND a HORRIBLE spot, and Williams throws a bad pass to an open Moore. I'm about to have a very angry and violent workout.
  5. Agreed. Poor play. Waaaaaaaaaaaay to many legitimate penalties. The Bears could have a 12 hour film session for each position group. It's hard to fault the 4th and 5th string DBs, but the score does not indicate how poorly this team played today.
  6. OPI and illegal hands to the face.
  7. Odunze was literally just blocked on his route there 20 yards down field.
  8. Helmet to helmet not called btw...
  9. Catch with forward progress? What a horrible call. This crew is garbage.
  10. I'm sorry, but that phantom false start call set the tone for that drive. I hate complaining about refs, but that was such abullshit call. The Bears get forced to line up in their own backfield into a very obvious running play, then Caleb panics trying to make something happen and throws a pick. There better be a complaint to the commissioners office. It seems like the Bears have at least one of these egregious calls against them ever week.
  11. Apparently, the Ravens just get to call false star penalties.
  12. I'm not thrilled with this game, but good lord do some of you need to stop with the doom boners. It's embarrassing. It's mostly one person, but not exclusively. I get that we're traumatized Bears fans, but the reactions are cartoonish at times. Yes, this was not a great game for Caleb. Proven good QBs sometimes have bad games, even against bad teams. It happens. It doesn't mean he sucks or is not progressing. Back away from the ledge.
  13. I've never wanted a first game loss in a Big Ten tournament so badly for the Boilermakers. This turned out to be the rebuild year I originally expected it to be, but I'm still hoping for a fun run in the tournament.
  14. WTF are the horrible takes? People are honestly upset with Odunze and Moore? Are you actually paying attention?
  15. Let me get this straight. The Vikings commit a penalty on the PAT. The Bears at THAT time decide to go for 2 assuming it's because they are now closer to the goal line. ... and they decide to go wide and throw it? If that was your play call, why didn't you just go for 2 to begin with? I was willing to give Brown a chance to show is worth. I do not want him even as an OC after that decision.
  16. I thought it was a pretty good run. We all knew it wouldn't last forever.
  17. Fair enough. I'll correct my mistake and be extra explicit. No team has beaten Purdue in non-conference play outside of the tournament since 2020. Y'all happy now?
  18. After last night's win, just a friendly reminder that Purdue is now 39-0 in non-conference play since 2000.
  19. I have them taking Adonai Mitchell on my board.
  20. My problem with it is it's called the Final Four Most Outstanding Player. If it was just for the final, I understand Newton winning it (although if it was just for this one game, I would argue Castle was the better player mostly due to his defense).
  21. BTW, Tristen Newton winning MOP over Edey when Edey outscored him by 25 in the Final Four is a joke. I know Edey lost... but he was clearly the best player on the floor.
  22. That was... a disappointing second half. Honestly, I don't mind the loss. It's how badly they lost that gets me. I know UConn has done this all year to almost everybody they've played... but I truly believe Purdue is better than this game would indicate. It's difficult to have optimism after watching UConn reload off of the portal like they've done the last two years. I'm looking forward to the Covid players finally ending next year. The number of 5th year seniors I've had to watch Purdue contend with the last 2 seasons is crazy. But I think the portal is going to continue to have a huge influence over the game. The Purdue's of the world are going to just have to continue to deal with the up-hill battle.
  23. Interesting game so far. UConn just appears to be letting Zach go on Clingan with interesting results. Zach is eating him up at times, but Clingan is definitely making things uncomfortable for him. It seems they are trying to shut down any outlet passes for Edey when he gets the ball in the post, but Zach is getting a bit antsy almost like he is feeling phantom digs. Pretty happy with Purdue's defense so far. They are playing the screen game pretty decently and forcing UConn into mid range shots, which is what they want to do. I want Edey to try to go through Clingan some more. One shot fake and a turn I think puts him in a bad position to either give up an easy bucket, or foul. A third foul on Clingan would loom large, especially since Johnson has 2 as well. It feels like UConn could rip off 8 points at any minute. Purdue's holding strong. As a Purdue fan and alum, I'm just happy they're here. I want them to represent well, and if they win it will be all that much more sweet. Looking forward to a good second half. Purdue's been a big time second half team all year, but UConn seems like they're the same way.
  24. I agree... But Utah is the number one perimeter defense in the country, and my boys just shot 50% from three against them. The real downfall for Purdue last year was their shooting. For the last month and a half of the regular season, they could not shoot consistently. They've been so good consistently through this year, but it only takes one game of poor shooting to change that. Edey insulates against that though to a degree. I think they have as good a chance as any of winning it all. For now, I'll just be satisfied if they can get to Phoenix.
