  1. 1B Rizzo 2B Barney SS Castro 3B Vitters/Stewart LF Soriano/Sweeney (if at the right price, why not) CF Jackson RF DeJesus C Castillo/Soto SP___________ SP __________ SP Samardzjia SP Wood SP Maholm CL Marmol BP Russell BP Dolis BP Cabrera BP Beliveau BP: 2 of Bowden, Jackson, Parker, Mateo, Maine, reclamation Bench Clevenger Bench Sappelt Bench LaHair/Campana Bench Valbuena Bench Cardenas Soriano will be gone and why would you start Sweeney over LaHair? Sweeney is a 27 year old journeyman with a career high 6 homeruns. LaHair will have better numbers this year than Sweeney will have in his career. If LaHair continues to work on defense and even puts up a .250 BA against LH's next year he will be a more than viable left fielder next year and in the future.
  2. Good god why cant this Castro guy get banned?? He derails every flipping thread with something stupid. Makes this site tough to read.
  3. Any word of an innings limit for Shark this year? Seems fairly plausible he gets shut down come September.
  4. Nothing in those quotes disproves what Bruce said. Dale said they don't have a date on it, Monday could still be the day like Levine mentioned. Bruce mentioned quite a few times this week on Waddle and Silvy that he expected Rizzo to be up no later than Sunday. He usually followed that up by saying he has no inside information on this, thats just what he thought. The guy knows no more than me or you.
  5. Levine said on Waddle and Silvy the other day that the majority of his information comes from other teams. Sounds like there are little to no sources inside the front office nowadays, a major change from the Hendry regime.
  6. If a trade is close, why not just skip his next start? What team wants to trade for a pitcher just put on the 15 day DL? Missing 3 starts is huge to a team in a playoff race.
  7. I love Baez's OBP strategy: stare at your homerun over the scoreboard, cuss at the pitcher rounding the bases, promptly get hit in the back the next at bat!
  8. This was discussed a page or 2 ago. Olney was on Waddle and Silvy this morning and said he "expects a decision" within 36-48 hours. Like another poster said, this means he isn't real sure when a decision will be made but thinks it will be within 2 to 3 days. I listened to the interview, it sounded like he knew nothing more than the rest of us.
  9. I guess Bruno has this going for him... Had 15-game hitting streak from March 21-April 14 (longest by UVa freshman since Brandon Guyer in 2005)
  10. Maybe Appel will be there for the Cubs to take #1 overall next year
  11. Sorry to rant on an unrelated note, but Levine and Kaplan are supposed to be "Cubs Insiders" but seem to know less than the majority of Cubs fans. Levine is on daily with Waddle and Silvy and rarely knows the answers to even the simplest of questions. You only have to know 7 or 8 names to prepare for the Cubs draft, its not like we are drafting in the 20's and you need to know 50 names. But anyway, heres to a good draft from the Cubs. Hope they go with an impact bat with the first pick and then load up on pitching throughout the draft.
  12. Burke is 26, he has to get bumped up soon right?
  13. Well guess we dont have to wonder who will be sent down when T. Wood is called up. Wood retirement should signal Volstad to the pen.
  14. Theres no way Harry knows any Cubs insider information b4 any of the beat guys. Chances are its more like he sold his season tickets or something stupid like that. Here is a good article I read last night on the super 2 status of Rizzo and BJax: http://www.obstructedview.net/commentary-and-analysis/when-will-we-see-brett-jackson-and-anthony-rizzo.html
  15. And now a HR from Lake leading off the inning, hes also playing 3b today. McNutt with 4 strikeouts through 3. Found a link to listen online: http://media4.aicmail.net:8080/MiLB/GameAudio/LiveStreamFlash/sou_tennessee_smokies
  16. Javier Baez hits for the cycle today!: Anthony Giansanti‏@GianSanityReply Retweet My man @javy23baez with the cycle today. #nobigdeal #extSTentourage #represent Heres a fluff piece on Baez and a few others: http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20120416&content_id=28827968&vkey=news_chc&c_id=chc&tcid=tw_article_28827968
  17. From @BoiseHawksRadio... Na scores on WP, Golden hits his 3rd HR in as many days, a three-run shot, as Boise jumps to the early lead...BOI 4, VAN 0 T2
  18. IMO the Cubs are in this situation because of so many backloaded contracts. So if the only way they can afford Fielder or Pujols is to severely backload yet another contract, then I think that would be a bad decision. Would going with LaHair and spending the extra $10-$15 mil on a front end starting pitcher be such a bad idea? I know everyone classifies him as a AAAA player but the dude is straight raking in Iowa. Just trying to think out of the box a bit.
  19. Does Vitters get a shot as a September call up?
  20. How much longer for BJax in Iowa? Unfortunately, I'm afraid we might not see him until Sept 1st. 11 K's for Rusin thru 7 IP..very impressive, and he wont be 25 for a couple more months.
  21. Everybody's favorite, Darwin Barney, has 10 walks this year. It is possible to be a productive ML'er without taking a boatload of walks. You guys can fret about Vitters lack of walks all you want, I will continue to look at the lack of middle of the order offensive production.
  22. The lack of prospects, hitting and pitching, is a bit disheartening. Especially the way our top prospects from the end of last year are playing this year.
  23. I will be there on Friday with a group of guys. We are coming from St. Louis, sitting in section 246. I hear it is buck night? I believe that entails $1 for most concessions stand foods.
  24. As many have said, I just dont believe there is much of a market for Soto. Seems too much up and down for someone who is supposed to be a reliable offensive contributor. I would be more interested in finding a suitor for Marmol. He just doesnt seem as crisp as he has in seasons past, and an All-Star closer is nearly impossible to find near the trade deadline. I would be confident in Cashner taking over his role later in the season.
