  1. CC or Harden had been named to the AL ASG roster and then been traded to the NL before the game is played? Would a traded player report to his old league for the game or be removed from the AL squad or? Go Cubs
  2. If I'm reading this right, an estimated $2/Mo to get every Cub broadcast? I'd sign up in a heartbeat Being outside the Chicagoland area and only getting games WGN carries now and in light of last Saturday's game (blackout fiasco) I would gladly spend 12 bucks Bargin really, where do I sign? Go Cubs
  3. Gave me a serious case of goose bumps Thanks Go Cubs
  4. http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/25611171/ Why was I born a righty? Also, interesting website mentioned http://www.retrosheet.org/ Go Cubs
  5. To many Cub pessimists Aramis in not 1/2 naked, he is 1/2 dressed Go Cubs
  6. To many Cub pessimists Aramis in not 1/2 naked, he is 1/2 dressed Go Cubs
  7. Cubs - Cards - Brewers have the best W-L record in the NL Cubs would have a 4 game lead in the East and a 9 game lead in the West Are these 3 really the best the NL has to offer? (I know the Cubs are) Go Cubs
  8. Tip'o the cap to Bhogg Outstanding thread starter May the Cubs effort live up to Bhogg's intro
  9. Ken Burns' series is very good, but it is does have some very glaring flaws. Chief amongst these is his bias toward New York and Boston baseball. He has a brief moment in the 1930's episode where he talks about the gashouse gang, but other than that and the occasional negro league story, it is focused primarily on Yankees/Sox/Dodgers/Giants. -nods-
  10. I don't live in IL so I rarely get my hands on a Sunday Chicago sports page section but I was lucky and have the Trib edition from Sunday, June 22 Phil Rogers ends his "inside Baseball" column on page 2 with a quote from Bill Bavasi asked what he would have done differently now that the Mariners have let him go "In retrospect, maybe I should have put a chain on the (clubhouse) door and torched it" Wow, this sound rather bitter to me I've heard it said not to burn bridges behind you, that means the clubhouse also I'm not sure how soon Mr Bavasi will find himself on the inside track for another GM's job
  11. I am watching the PBS Ken Burns Baseball series (got it at my local library) and there is a mention of a question asked of Walter Johnson, all-time great pitcher with the Washington Senators Walt was asked "Who hit the farthest home run off of you?" "Well I don't know if Babe hit it the farthest but they got the tiniest the fastest" he replied This series is strongly recommended for anyone who has an interest in baseball history
  12. 100 Plus pitches in the 5th inning - I'll take it Lets get some runs now
  13. Living through the "amazing mets" overtaking the Cubs in 69 I can only feel a sick amd twisted yet wonderful glee in their collapse last fall and now their being in complete disarray While in my normal life I would never take any pleasure in someone's misfortune, this tickles me Yea, 69 was that bad Now that Willie will not be part of the mets I hope he lands on his feet
  14. Hi Tim, My suggestion is to add an additional catagory (we have game day threads, rants, minor leagues, etc) for injuries / rehab It would be a quick way to stay on top of status - progress of various players be they Cub personel or from other teams Keep up the great work Aeaasie
  15. I miss daytime double headers Ernie was right "Let's play two" Hey Hey
