  1. Lulz, even our fifth outfielder is getting in on the action.
  2. A HARD HIT BALL WENT RIGHT AT A FIELDER WHY DO BAD THINGS ALWAYS HAPPEN TO US
  3. I really hope we're not overreacting on Zobrist before the first game has even wrapped up.
  4. Belated, but: CUBS BASEBALL IS BACK AND I LOVE ALL YOU GUYS
  5. Why didn't Rizzo show Zobrist how to be a better contact hitter?
  6. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=14445&position=P Pitched five innings of mediocre ball with the Cubs that year and was never heard from again. But hey, props to him for making it to the show!
  7. The worst part of baseball is that there's no bargaining, no forecasting ahead. You can't say 'This is going to happen in October. Would you be okay with that?' In the moment, looking ahead, after we clinched the NLDS against the Cardinals, we were all elated. We didn't know how the NLCS would shape up, but we wished for and hoped the best because we are an awesome team that could win, and frankly speaking, deserved to go all the way. And then the harsh, unpredictable nature of reality struck, and the dream fell flat on its face. Overall, I'm happy with how this season turned out. And I'm bummed out that poor fortune screwed us yet again. Just keep in mind, we're not the only ones. Look at the A's last year. Look at the Royals in the World Series running into the MadBum buzzsaw. Look at the Astros this year, two innings away from advancing before KC's miraculous comeback. Look at the Rangers this year after being a game away from advancing their Cinderella season, and in 2011, were one strike away twice[/] from riding on top of the world. They have way more of a claim that a title was stolen from them than we do. Look at the 2007 Padres, who missed the playoffs because their Hall of Fame closer blew two games in a row. Look at the 2012 Reds, who collapsed just like the Rangers after winning their first two DS road games. Hell, look at the 2004 Yankees, whose opponents had to do something that literally had never happened in baseball before to crush their dreams. Many teams go into the playoffs. All but one go home, heartbroken, some in crueler ways than others. Every fan of good teams has to learn to deal with heartbreak. But them being there means they have a chance, and that chance is better than sitting on your couch in October. Some of those teams don't even know if they'll have a good chance of being back again next year. This team is good. This team is going to have their shot. Ideally, many, many times, and that's way better than having a shot in the dark every five years. Let's all look ahead, smile, and wait for winter to pass.
  8. Watch the World Series. It's baseball. It's still the greatest sport.
  9. Maybe don't forget how to play baseball when it really matters next year, Cubs.
  10. Cry more you facking losers. Fack you. Fack BABIP. Fack Kyle Fat [expletive] Schwarber. Fack ' false God' aka Arrieta. Fack your [expletive], arrogant unlovable loser fanbase. Fack your [expletive] insults towards New York, including old references to 1980's Queens and simply [expletive] puns about Gary Carter's brain tumors. Fack your entire [expletive], disgusting, outdated, worthless ballpark. That's not a landmark. It's a piece of trash. GO fullback YOURSELVES. FOREVER LOSERS. PLEASE STOP BELIEVING. #WEAREGOINGHOME #WEARENOTGOOD #WEAREELIMINATED #[expletive] :band: :band: :friends: :neo: :bananas: :bananas: :bananas: :yahoo: :yahoo:   \:D/ \:D/ Poor guy. I need you to cry some more about the umps, batted balls, line drives, poor luck and the Mets not being the better team. Please continue crying. I am enjoying all your tears. I legitimately feel saddened that this is how you find your enjoyment. Focus on building yourself as a stronger person instead of tearing other people down. Not that I expect you to listen to me. Prove me wrong, hm?

  12. Bad luck, the team didn't show up, the umpiring was [expletive], and we ran into a hot Mets team? Does that about sum it up? I mean, they could have collapsed instead of us. We have way more karma on our side, but nah, you poor guys haven't won a pennant since 2000. The Mets deserve it more than us.You take it.
  13. Maddon should tear into the umpires. [expletive] being a good sport at this point.
  14. Two pitchers, one centerfielder, maybe one shutdown reliever. Then this club is dynamite.
  15. Since the game isn't interesting at all... How much money would you pay for the Cubs to win the World Series that's within your means? I'm going to say... two grand.
  16. Beating the Cards was pretty cool Just have to believe that these things are crap shoots and we just need to make the playoffs every damn year to breakthrough Yeah that was cool, but I don't get the logic of being satisfied showing our asses in the LCS just because they had a nice regular season. Nobody's going to feel satisfied with the memory of beating Cincinatti in June. If you're only going to derive overall from a team if they win the World Series, then you need to lighten up. Enjoy the day-to-day pleasures of baseball. I love it when the Cubs win, and even if the glow of the moment fades with time, I'll always look back on a win with a smile.
  17. Absolute poppycock. You really believe this is the best the Cubs can do? I mean... a lot of it is [expletive] luck and poor timing. But I also believe they're putting their heads down when the going's gone tough instead of saying '[expletive] this [expletive], we can do better.' Just look at the Royals this year and last. None of this is quantifiable, but I believe mindset is huge and does make a difference. Not the only thing that matters, mind you, but as bad as we've looked this series, you can't say this is the best we've got. God do you really believe this? Maddon is like the best manager in baseball at making sure the players are in the best mindset possible. Partially. I believe that they've had a very good mindset the entire year, which has lead to them playing very well overall. I also believe this series has been incredibly stressful and high-stakes for the players and good coaching can only go so far to combat the default mindset of the players. I'm not saying mindset is everything, but you can't deny it's a factor. All we can do is speculate. It's possible the team got rattled by a shitty game one and couldn't pick themselves back up. It could be us running into a Mets team playing out of their mind. It could be the bats going suddenly cold. It's probably a mix of the above.
