Seems like this is a far better time and place to trash Sandberg than the time/place Sandberg chose to trash Sosa. saying "hitting and bunting is more important then finding the little red light on the camera" is VASTLY different then saying "Sandberg sucks because his wife was a slut". And its not like he's the only Cub who didnt like Sosa

    You have a very strong emotional attachment to this man. sure, in a Cubs-fan way I love the guy. That doesnt mean I dream of him being the Cubs manager, but to irrationally dump on him is rather emotional too, dont you think?

Sandberg was a great player, and in vast majority of opinions, a really great guy. neither of those things indicate him as a great manager, obviously, but to try and use his off-the-field issues against him in the managerial arguments is [expletive] stupid. the irrational "Trash Sandberg" [expletive] is stupid, invalid, and just makes you all look like complete morons.

    It's pretty clear a lot of us don't like him much, but he's obviously exaggerating his points to get a rise out of people. what? I love jersey 80% of the time. hes a solid poster, except when he posts [expletive].

    It's closer than you think. Carlos Zambrano: 3.6 bWAR per full season for his career Ryne Sandberg: 4.1 bWAR per full season for his career that is closer. its rather amazing that Ryne is in the HoF and Z will likely never get in.

    Zambrano told a teammate he was going to retire but then changed his mind, and for this the vast majority think he should never put on a Cubs uniform again. Ryne Sandberg actually did quit on his team in the middle of the season. But a very large group of people have nothing but glowing things to say about him and think he should lead this team. 1. Z was never the talent Ryne was as a player. Sure, a lot of us thought he could be, but he wasnt. Ryne gets a pass because he played so damn well for 8-9 YEARS. 2. Z's "retirement" was hardly the first indication that he might be just a lil bit [expletive] crazy. How many flake-outs did Ryne have? 3. Name 1 Superstar MLB player that isnt "ME FIRST". Please. Besides, how is this ANY indication of their managerial success? 3a. Z isnt the "ME FIRST" type? 4. I doubt either would make a very good manager, but to try and lump them together as "bad manager" candidates because they both retired during the season is nuts. Its also crazy to try and imply Z is somehow less nuts then Ryne. Z is nuts, Ryne is just too stuck in the old ways.

Z came back to the team almost immediately while Ryno actually followed through on screwing everybody over. yea. I mean all those meltdowns and profanity laced tirades Ryne had. JUST LIKE TWINS.
