  1. well, I was thinking of in like 6 mos when everyone realizes Jakes arm fell off in June and we could trade for a guy like Archer
  2. Schwarber killed the ball last year, including playoffs he had a 143 wRC+, and that is probably not a fair expectation of Schwarber's bat going forward. A 143 wRC+ would be Rizzo's worst mark since 2013. He also is under team control for the same duration as Schwarber. nvm, I see what you are saying, they are both fully under control for the same period, so a) keep both and b)def keep the better one, or who projects to be better, Rizzo where he is at
  3. could the Cubs ever convert KS to 1st and move Rizzo? it feels sacrilege to me, I love Rizzo, but if they feel KS really is that much better of a hitter, I wouldn't be shocked if Theo did this thinking KS could handle the position
  4. I really hate that our big FA move is littered with this crap
  5. I didn't say they would be better. Actually I googled Almaty because I wanted to learn about it a bit and food that pic, thought it was kinda funny/relevant to the discussion
  6. Can domestic abusers ever stop? Honest question
  7. I'm sure Almaty would be just fiiiiine http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20160727/02813c85f7b47724df2a14ded80ed0dc.jpg
  8. this is dumb and awful stuff You should feel shame To add, if his girlfriend and her brother were also from Cuba, why would they fight back knowing that w/o Chapmans money they'd likely go back?
  9. I think what he is saying is that what should be a great story (poverty to rich/successful athlete in America) has been ruined by his actions. oh yeah, that would have been cool That's exactly what I'm saying. It's interesting reading how players like he grew up, but God he's in a bad place now and it sucks
  10. Yeah, I've spent the better part of the past 2 days rationalizing this move to myself and feel kinda sick that I'm doing that. This guy is scum vs. god I want a WS win. Gonna be even more disheartening if we don't win it and he leaves after the season. Maybe. I don't want to piss away WS chances, but it isn't like the window is rapidly closing. While I want to win it this year, if we lose this year, he walks and we win it in 2017 without him, I'd be happier in the end. The guy came from absolute poverty to the point he is now, that's what I have a hard time with. I want him to be amazing and be amazing closing games, he just isn't
  11. You know what absolutely sucks? We have an amazing bullpen with guys that can throw 97-105 and I have totally mixed feelings about it. Ugggh
  12. He'll break out in the playoffs and it'll be awesome. He'll break out in May and it'll be awesome. He'll break out when it gets warm and it'll be awesome. He'll break out in the 2nd half and it'll be awesome. he'll never break out He broke
  13. I agree to a point, but I also think that while Theo saw a chance to make the team much better, he also wanted to keep the best closer in this era away from other teams. The Giants are 1.5 games behind the Cubs for the best record in baseball, yet have 18 blown saves this season. That stat was so crazy when I heard it I had to look it up. If they were even middle of the pack we're looking up at them in overall standings. CUBS have 10 http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/team/_/stat/pitching/type/expanded
  14. i dont think it does, but I worry more about how he has progressed from it then the fact he did it. That's a weird way to look at the timing of all of this. It didn't happen like, weeks after getting to America. He's been here since 2010 and it happened 9 months ago. Did it happen once, or multiple times? why did it happen? Was it an isolated incident or is this his view of the world? Is he doing anything about it (aka, psychotherapy, etc) or has he just apologized because he got caught?
  15. no growing up in poverty doesn't excuse physical abuse and intimidation via gunshots i dont think it does, but I worry more about how he has progressed from it then the fact he did it.
  16. I'm half serious and half joking. In the slums of Cuba, firing off half a clip in your garage to prove a point probably isn't THAT rare. DOES THAT MAKE IT ACCEPTABLE? i believe gun ownership is rare in Cuba. Guess what, Cuban kid moves to free country buys gun and loses track of mental state of being and others welfare. money, new freedoms, booze, narcissistic society. He has a lot to learn.
  17. I have a hard time demonizing him for what he did given the understanding of where he came from, what he endured, and what every day must be like. What I worry a tremendous amount about is how he has changed, or IF he has changed and how he did that. it almost sounds like he is trending towards deep narcissism and american culture can certainly push that along.
  18. 1) Drinking is not a justification for anything. 2) A woman not wanting to press charges against her batterer is EXTREMELY COMMON. 3) You are aren't defending what he did, you're diminishing it. and honestly, what choices did she have? to move back to Cuba?
