Probably want them to win one of those, I think I can see that. Sort of depends on where you think LA will end up or hope they end up. I assume they'll make the playoffs so I'd prefer they just win the division so we don't have to worry about playing them in the WC game if we blow the division. Ideal realistic scenario (I'm assuming only one of Col/Ari make it) is Dodgers win the division and the Rockies get the WC and take out the Brewers. Obviously Col/Ari both making it is ideal because then both the Dodgers and Cards are left out. But I think Arizona is too far back (4 in the division with Colorado's game pending and 3.5 out of the WC, and they'd have to pass two teams in both races) and has too tough a schedule (@Hou, vs. Chi, vs. Col, vs LA, @SD) to get there. horsefeathers this horsefeathers. I'm still aiming for homefield through out the playoffs. keep the dodgers down, screw who gets the the wc. beat them all -
You can't prove how much more wacky and clever you are if you do the obvious thing. i don’t even necessarily disagree with the idea behind it, but i think it’s absolutely true that part of the appeal of letting strop bat there is because of how fun it would be and how much the team would like it if he got the run in or even got a hit. joe likes to put his players in unique situations and the players like it too. i have a lot more qualms with letting strop pitch another inning than i do with letting him take the at bat and trying to get a hit. yea. the sandwiched day game at DC with the threat of a hurricane w/o any decency from the MLB front office, I can see Maddon wanting to let them have some fun. And maybe Joe never intended him to pitch anymore.

Wrong. 21 pitches is not just 21 pitches when it is spread out across multiple innings. He had to warm up and come in the game, then pitch. Then he had to sit and wait, warm up again and pitch another inning. At this point he's done. He should not come back. But Joe tried to make him sit through another long inning, then planned on having him warm up and pitch again. It was a stupid risk. They should have gone for the runs. They should not have risked their pitcher's arm by bringing him back for a third inning. That alone was reason enough to make the change, but bases loaded with 1 out is absolutely time to take him out. and gone with who exactly? Its not like we are knocking the cover off the ball.

yea, I dont have a problem with Maddon batting him, but he should have been on a strict "do nothing" leash. But its also very easy to say in the rearview mirror
