pie has been terrible down here, and murton is starting to slump and has yet to hit for any power. i would almost be in favor of sending up dubois...yes he is back in DSM and has 5 bombs in 35 AB's. -
or kroeger, dubois, hell even torres... just because lou hates murton.

with soriano heading to the DL, murton might get his chance after all. im guessing hart goes down to get back in the rotation in DSM and Hoffpauir and Murton are brought up...although murton is slumping lately down here.

i am so pissed. murton has to demand a trade. the only season in which he got regular ABs he led the team in batting average. that was his ROOKIE YEAR! how in the hell is everyone so sure that he is not a big league hitter? he is already better than pie will EVER be because he actually has some discipline. the power will come. you dont have to be a defensive stud to play the corners in wrigley...as we have shown by playing DeRo and Ward out there...

i was including restaurants in those numbers. a place like centro would be a pretty good walk though.

longtime lurker here...i live in des moines and the icubs are very popular. a lot of this has to do with the improvements made to downtown des moines. it will never be confused with a big city, but the atmosphere is fantastic in summer. there are probably 75-100 watering holes or restaurants of all types within walking distance of principal park. the icubs draw fantastic crowds and the park is a top-notch AAA facility located on the riverbank. the neighborhood is very safe and you will find the natives very friendly, and we are not nearly the hicks our stereotypes would have you believe. i promise that you will not see a john deere parked outside the bar. in addition to legend's, bait shop, high life, liar club and people's, I would also recommend Hessen Haus, the royal mile, and 101. there are ton of good places in the suburbs as well. http://www.iowanightlife.com
