Looking for advice on a trade proposed to me. I'm in a roto league. I'm in 1st place right now, but I'm in last place in saves (Just traded for Billy Wagner so that will help, also have Cordero with Cinci and Gagne :roll: ) I give Joe Mauer I get BJ Ryan and Chris Synder C Arizona (as a throw in). Thoughts?

I haven't purchased a Cub jersey since my Ryno jersey, so I think it's time to get a new one. I looked at the MLB Shop and Wrigleyville Sports and found what I was looking for. Then for the heck of it I looked on ebay. Well, they are quite a bit cheaper there. So are they cheap fakes? Are they HOT? Do they just buy in bulk? Anyone have any thoughts on this? Like I mentioned, I haven't bought one in a while.

I was watching a little bit of that game. It was rather painful to watch as Maddux just didn't have it. But he stayed in there and helped his team eat up some innings.

Yeah, I do. Not enough to commit Harry Caray on second base or anything. ;) But I'm very much a traditionalist and enjoy the history of the game. I remember not that long ago having bar bets that I could name all the baseball fields and football stadiums, and winning the bet. Now I'm down to knowing only a handful of them because, seriously, AT&T? Chase? Citizens? No thanks. And in a couple of years when American Express buys out Chase we get a name change again. Keep the history of the team. Give me Wrigley. Give me Fenway. Give me Lambeau and and Soldier Field. Those names mean something. Will it prevent me from being a fan? No it won't. Will it prevent me from enjoying the game as much if it isn't Wrigley anymore? No. But a small part of the Cubs that made them special will be going away. At least to me.

Listening to Lou during the game yesterday, I got the impression he was leaning towards Wood. Could have been a motovational thing I guess. -
My reaction exactly. Regardless, I'm not drafting him in the first two rounds now, maybe not even first three. I heard a surgeon on XM today talking about it - it has little or no impact on his batting. Only affects his throwing - i would be running anytime he gets the ball in his hand this year. Hmmm. That's amazing that it won't affect hitting. I still have the feeling it will be an issue all year so I dropped him off my fantasy board all together. Ok. It's been an issue since 2003 and he has had some pretty ok fantasy years since then. Yeah, just OK. ;) Isn't it worse this year than in the past couple of years though?

When the Brewers were in the AL they were my favorite AL team with the Cubs being my favorite NL team. The Cubs are my number 1 now with the Brewers a distant 2. It's hard with them in the same division, but I don't hate them. Too many good memories going back to Hank Aaron, Harveys Wallbangers, etc. And if there isn't a Cub game on, I love listening to Ueker call a game.

Not a bad compromise -- depending of course how the "significant signage" looks. If they take down the ivy and cover the bricks with ads, I will publicly tar and feather their CEO in a public square. That I would sure agree with. I'm thinking signs on the electronic scoreboards in the grandstands and maybe even a small one on the big scoreboard in center. Then of course all over the concourse. Isn't there already signage in those places already. Kinda my point. If they don't go overboard with it - just put their signage in the "normal" spots, it wouldn't be that bad. Are there any ads on the center field scoreboard this year??
