  1. I would rather that then non-stop music talk and Podcast Studio talk... They may have misguided opinions, but they at least talk about baseball 10 times more than Len & Bob.
  2. Maybe it's my longterm Cub experience, or just Lou's comment on Saturday ("...and we will probably be starting a young guy in center."), or the series of articles the last two days stating that a trade for a full-time CF is still a real possibility, but I will be somewhat surprised if Pie gets April, if he is on the team at all. craig's list reminded me of the actions Hendry made to clear the spot for Pie and has given me some hope, but Lou seems nervous to give him a month; let alone two.
  3. To get really optimistic for 2009: Z Hill Wood Lilly Gallagher What if Hill keeps getting better?
  4. I assume no one is biting on marquis still? Have they gotten any offers for him at all that you know of? None to speak of. That radio talk today was nonsense. Personally speaking, good. I want to see Pie get a legit chance. I am an admitted "Prospect Lover."
  5. He said he finally figured out that short innings/throwing strikes were his priority now he was starting. He said he tried to make the perfect pitch too much as a closer...for what it's worth.
  6. I know it is early and just ST, but Dempster and Lieber look to be a decent #4 and #5. (We all know Hill is the #3.) Pie is too much upside to let go...I would love to see him get 250-300 AB's before we think of replacing him.
  7. Didn't Lou mention the same thing earlier this spring?
  8. Alright...I just caved in. Let's use the DH in the NL.
  9. I like that better than our current projected lineup. Much better OBP at the top and some serious run production in the middle.
  10. Doubted. I think he just wants to give Fuku a day off but still play sori. I'm sure you're right...just grasping at straws. Another topic, could Fukudome be effective at leadoff and how would that set up the rest of the order?
  11. Interesting with Murton in RF. Any chance Lou is thinking of moving Fukudome to CF?
  12. Crisp plays terrific defense, Pie plays terrific defense. Crisp can bat around .290, Pie hasn't really shown he can bat above .250. Crisp doesn't strike out as much as Pie, and can steal 25-30 bases. I think Crisp brings a lot more to this team than Pie. But I agree that Pie has a high ceiling, but he isn't certain to get to that ceiling. If Pie hits the same as he did last year, then he would be a big detriment to this team. Crisp can actually help this team a lot. Plus we would be giving up absolutely nothing for him. And who knows if he would even start for us. Maybe he would just play versus lefties. We wanted a centerfielder whom can bat righty, we were willing to give up Murton for someone like Marlon Byrd. Now we can get that CF and give up garbage. This would be an amazing move by Hendry. I like Pie and think he can be good, but I wouldnt mind this deal at all. I think that maybe Pie would be traded though if we got Crisp. Is it a given that Crisp returns to his pre-broken wrist form of .290? Or are his .264/.317 and .268/.330 since his injury more likely?
  13. I could not agree more. His minor league stats, along with his skills, deserve a longer look. I would give him until June 1. Crisp isn't all that...Since his broken wrist at the beginning of 2006, he has hit .264 and .268 with OBP's of .317 and .330. I just think we let the Pie dice roll...
  14. I can't believe Crisp comes here unless Pie is traded. On yesterday's broadcast Lou did say that "we will probably start in center." It was porbably just a slip, but...
  15. Lou's comments regarding Pie on today's broadcast were interesting. He said Pie had separated himself from Fuld as far as CF is concerned; but at the end of the interview he reminded Len and Bob, "we are going to be starting a young guy at catcher and we will probably be starting a young guy in center". Would it be too much to read into that as Pie still being a possibility to be traded rather than being "untouchable"?

  17. I guess I am old school, but I love the road grays. They are baseball traditional and nice looking IMO. I liked our home jersey's better without the names on the back. And I hate the softball blue jersey's. I am way old...
  18. So Roger was all for his wife getting injected with HGH by a trainer (rather than a DOCTOR), but he never took steroids or HGH. And he must not have cared if his wife grew an ear out of her forehead. OK...
