  1. Does anyone here go to the Baseball Fever forum or know anyone else who goes there? I registered for the forum, but I'm unable to post messages. When I registered, I got an e-mail notification saying I needed to click on a link to have my account activated. I clicked on it and it said I was approved of, but then when I tried to post messages, I kept getting an error message saying that I do not have permission to access the page (I also e-mailed the webmaster about it, but my message bounced). So if anyone here goes to the forum and/or knows any of the mods there, could you let them know about this? Thanks. I registered under the name Paladin Cecil.
  2. I didn't know about that site. It sounds awesome. Thanks for informing me on it. I'll definitely join.
  3. I've made my choices on most of the ballparks, but I'm still deciding on Tiger Stadium, Braves Field and Milwaukee County Stadium. For Tiger Stadium, I'm having trouble deciding on Ty Cobb's 4,000th, game 6 of the 1935 World Series or the 1941 All-Star Game (I'm leaning towards the latter). For Braves Field, I'm having trouble deciding on Paul Waner's 3,000th or game 6 of the 1948 World Series. For Milwaukee County Stadium, I'm thinking of doing game 4 of the 1957 World Series or Warren Spahn's 300th (I'm leaning toward the latter).
  4. I've come up with a few more ideas for the older ballparks. For Memorial Stadium, I've decided to do either game 4 of the '64 World Series or game 7 of the '71 World Series. For Southside Park, I was thinking game 6 of the 1906 World Series. For League Park, probably game 7 of the '20 World Series. For Municipal Stadium, I'm still thinking the '54 All-Star Game. For Bennett Park, I was thinking game 5 of the 1907 World Series. For Tiger Stadium, I'm thinking game 6 of the '35 World Series., Ty Cobb's 4,000th or the 1941 All-Star Game. For Griffith Stadium, I'm thinking game 7 of the '24 World Series. Municipal Stadium 1: Early Wynn's 300th. Game 4 of the '28 World Series sounds like a good Shibe Park moment. For Braves Field, maybe game 6 of the '48 World Series. For Westside Ground, I was thinking game 1 of the 1906 World Series. For Crosley Field, I'm thinking game 7 of the '40 World Series. For Ebbets Field, Jackie Robinson's first game sounds like a good choice. For the LA Coliseum, I was thinking game 3 of the '59 World Series. For Milwaukee County Stadium, Hank Aaron's pennant-clinching home run is definitely a good choice. I was thinking of choosing that or game 4 of the '57 World Series. For Baker Bowl, maybe game 2 or game 5 of the 1915 World Series. For Sportsmans Park, I was thinking game 7 of the '46 World Series. For Jarry Park, Bill Stoneman's 2nd.
  5. I've finished making my video narratives of the greatest moments in baseball's current ballparks prior to 2009 (except for Nationals Park. I want to wait for something to happen that's more historic than Cristian Guzman's cycle). I want to start doing some video narratives on the greatest moments in the ballparks of the past, and while I do have some ideas for many of them, there are some that I've had trouble deciding on. I did some research on the histories of these parks and with some of them, it's still hard to find a memorable moment good enough to consider its greatest moment (and some are just hard to decide). Here are the ballparks I've had a hard time deciding on. If anyone has any ideas, feel free to share them. Memorial Stadium (I've been thinking of doing game 7 of the '71 World Series) Municipal Stadium (was thinking of the '54 All-Star Game) Tiger Stadium Griffith Stadium (was thinking of the '56 All-Star Game) Shibe Park Braves Field Crosley Field Ebbets Field Milwaukee County Stadium Baker Bowl Sportsman's Park The ones I have decisions for are for: Huntington Avenue Grounds: 1903 World Series game 8 Old Comiskey Park: 1933 All-Star Game Metropolitan Stadium: 1965 World Series game 7 The Kingdome: 1995 A.L.D.S. game 5 Arlington Stadium: Nolan Ryan's 7th Exhibition Stadium: Phil Niekro's 300th Atlanta Fulton-County Stadium: Hank Aaron's 715th Mile High Stadium: 1993 home opener Colt Stadium: Don Nottebart's no-hitter The Astrodome: 1986 N.L.C.S. game 6 Forbes Field: 1960 World Series game 7 Polo Grounds: The Shot Heard Round the World Candlestick Park: 1962 World Series game 7 R.F.K. Stadium: 2005 home opener
  6. Between baseball and American football, which would you consider the better sport after reading this article? http://baseball-almanac.com/legendary/libvf100.shtml
  7. With the amount of unemployment that's been increasing, and with how much it would cost to build a new ballpark for the Marlins, do you think the Marlins will be staying in Miami? And do you think the Marlins should stay in Miami or should they re-locate? In my opinion, it's a tough decision because even though not using money to build the Marlins a new ballpark would help people with employment and no one attends Marlins games, it would be very difficult for the few people who are fans and re-location is something the Marlins franchise doesn't deserve. The real reason for the poor attendance the Marlins have is because it's difficult to be a fan for a team that always has to trade away good players because of financial problems. And before the '98 season, the Marlins did have good attendance. If the Marlins could get a new ballpark, I think it would help the team a lot and I think it would make people more likely to attend games.
  8. In my opinion, it's better that the Division Series is best three out of five. If it went best four out of seven, I think a lot of people would consider it overkill and a lot of people already believe that about the NBA play-offs. Also, when the current play-off format was created, the Division Series was never originally intended to be as long a series as the LCS and the World Series.

  10. Note: I'm out of town right now, so I'm not gonna be able to watch Baseball Tonight regularly. I think the last team they covered was the Twins/Senators. Did anyone see that episode?
  11. I agree. Wagner did have better career numbers than Clemente, but I picked Clemente because he didn't just have an impact with his numbers, he also had an immense impact on hispanic players in Major League Baseball.
  12. The results for the Pirates and Rays are up: Pirates: ESPN: 1. Honus Wagner 2. Roberto Clemente 3. Willie Stargell Viewers: Weren't mentioned My choices: 1. Roberto Clemente (although I could understand ESPN's decision to place Wagner at no. 1) 2. Honus Wagler 3. Willie Stargell Rays: ESPN: 1. Carl Crawford 2. Aubrey Huff 3. Scott Kazmir Viewers: 1. Carl Crawford 2. Scott Kazmir 3. Fred McGriff My choices: Same as ESPN's Next will be the Angels of Anaheim.

  14. I've got several more clips uploaded and plan to make more in the future, so keep checking back from time to time. They can be viewed at http://youtube.com/user/paladincecil

  17. I really like the info you give, but it is obviously being read. I am no God of Speeches or anything but I have taken a speech class. This video is awesome... but to make it better I suggest learning the material as best you can and say it in a manner that you (yourself) create to captivate the audience. The biggest point in any journalism class you would ever have would be your "voice" and making it your own, I think you can do that. Could also add a little video clip at the end of every major moment as well. P.S. Look at the camera not the computer screen. I'm glad you enjoyed watching it. :) I agree. It does look like it's being read and I will work on that. And I agree. I do need to work on my delivery. I'll start practicing my commentary delivery as well. I'd add a video clip for each moment, but I got in trouble when I uploaded a broadcast I made of Kirk Gibson's '88 World Series home run and I don't want to have a suspended account.
  18. I've got the first clip up. It's of Oriole Park at Camden Yards. If you have some comments on what you like or improvements I could make with future clips, I'd be glad to hear them. :)
  19. Earlier today, I taped a conversation I had with a friend about who the best players are for each Major League franchise. Here's what we had to say on the subject. Part 1: http://youtube.com/watch?v=A3qjlqUjP8E Part 2: http://youtube.com/watch?v=1ZDKXEZZH9I Part 3: http://youtube.com/watch?v=UcdSybFFYu4 Warning: During parts of these clips, I sound like an idiot. I also wanted to mention that when I mentioned the Indians nominees, I mentioned Al Rosen being one of them when it was really Nap Lajoie. And the Tiger nominee whose name I didn't remember was Al Kaline. On another note, my friend even pays tribute to the great Lyman Bostock.
  20. My choices for the Diamondbacks: 3. Steve Finley (he had better career numbers with the Diamondbacks than Schilling) 2. Luis Gonzalez 1. Randy Johnson Tomorrow will be the Padres.
  21. erik316wttn: Glad you like it. :) I'm currently working on the #1 Oriole Park at Camden Yards moment. RonnieWooWooSanto: Thanks for the link. I'll be sure to look there. If anyone would like to express their thoughts on my choices or help me with ways to cover my choices, I'll be happy to hear your ideas. The ideas I have for each ballpark moment are: Oriole Park at Camden Yards: Cal Ripken Jr's. 2,131st Fenway Park: 1975 World Series game 6 New Comiskey Park: 2005 A.L.C.S. game 2 Jacobs Field: 1997 A.L.D.S. game 4 Comerica Park: 2006 A.L.C.S. game 4 Kauffman Stadium: 1985 World Series game 6 Angel Stadium of Anaheim: 1986 A.L.C.S. game 5 Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome: 1991 World Series game 7 Yankee Stadium: Lou Gehrig's farewell speech Oakland Coliseum: Rickey Henderson's 939th $afeco Field: Ichiro's 259th of the 2004 season Tropicana Field: Wade Boggs's 3,000th Rangers Ballpark In Arlington: Sammy Sosa's 600th SkyDome: 1993 World Series game 6 Bank One Ballpark: 2001 World Series game 7 Turner Field: 1999 N.L.C.S. game 6 Wrigley Field: Babe Ruth's called shot Great American Ballpark: Sammy Sosa's 500th Coor$ Field: 2007 N.L. 1-game play-off Dolphin Stadium: 1997 World Series game 7 Minute Maid Park: 2005 N.L.D.S. game 4 Dodger Stadium: 1988 World Series game 1 Miller Park: 2002 All-Star Game Shea Stadium: 1986 World Series game 6 Citizen$ Bank Park: 2007 N.L. 22. Here are the results for the Brewers: ESPN: 1. Robin Yount 2. Paul Molitor 3. Cecil Cooper Viewers: Ditto My choices: Ditto The next team will be the Diamondbacks.
  23. I've got an video idea that I plan to do in the near future. I plan to make video narration clips of the greatest moments in each ballpark and I was wondering if anyone knows of any websites that give some good detailed information about memorable ballpark moments, such as Ripken's 2,131st and Ruth's called shot. When I make these, I want to provide some good and professional commentary on the moments.
  24. It's supposed to be the greatest players for each franchise.
