  1. I'm thought he was kidding. At the time, I wasn't. But when he posted on here, he said that he was wearing a purple Fanta shirt. When he went on air with Waddle and Silvy, he also mentioned that it was a Fanta shirt. I'm pretty sure (but I could be wrong) that in the original report, he didn't say anything about it being a Fanta shirt (just purple). I kinda assumed he was revealing it jokingly. Regardless, real or not, I think his name should be highlighted in purple to signify its superior nature to everyone else's He's superior because he happened to see and recognize Theo at a Starbucks and then email Sullivan about it? The superiority thing was hyperbole... highlighting his screen name in purple was not. I think that'd be kinda awesome
  2. We'll grow to become arrogant, self-assured that our management can do no wrong, so anything that goes wrong will be completely on the players and other non-management factors, like other teams' luck. In other words, we'll become SoSH. And when he leaves for the Nationals we'll demand Strasburg and Harper as fair compensation
  3. Yeah, that was a joke. I hope so, it's more fun if he's real.

  5. Yes, this. That was very very cool to hear. I believe his words were along the lines of "We saw it and said 'Wow, they're really going for it this year'" or something to that effect.
  6. huh EDIT - oh. I didn't see it. A lot of people didn't, things were moving a mile a minute back then, lol share share If you want to keep believing in the magic, don't look at the link in the spoiler...

  8. Am I the only one who didn't overlook GR's vague unveiling of who purple shirt guy actually was on here?
  9. Man, Bernstein used to be good....it's sad how dumb he's gotten. It's frustrating because he's the only person that knows about advanced stats and he'll actually cite BP and Fangraphs and he'll cite things like WAR, but then he just has completely idiotic takes on things/opinions. I think you guys are missing the point he was making. Simply that Castro is not strong in some of the areas that Theo seems to deem as pretty important, like defense and plate patience. He was just saying Castro may need a little extra help to become what he potentially can and be a Theo type of player. If that's the point he was making, then we need to hire that coach to train the rest of the organization, minus Brett Jackson.
  10. "I DON'T HAVE A CRYSTAL BALL! GET OFF MY LAWN, PUNK!" *sprays him with hose*
  11. Well silly us, that's obviously public knowledge and we must be ignorant for not knowing. It's on her/his Wikipedia page, so yeah it is public knowledge
  12. STARBUCKS REFERENCE!
  13. winner Aaaaaand uhthankyou
  14. Nice audio, CSN, you bastards
  15. http://espn.go.com/dallas/mlb/story/_/id/7146838/2011-world-series-crowd-noise-causes-st-louis-cardinals-bullpen-confusion Maybe it's a stretch, it WAS really loud, so this is probably an honest complaint, but still... it fits his M.O. Also... Yes, ear mikes. Because a mic is something you speak into, so naturally they should put one in your ear to hear better? You [expletive] dolt.
  16. The Mets are reportedly adjusting their fences to make Citi Field more of a hitter's park, and I do recall Wright being a cry baby about the dimensions. Obviously they affect everyone, but no player has taken a more dramatic, inconsistent hit to his offensive numbers in the new stadium than David Wright. I imagine they'll try and keep him around for the beginning of the year and see how his numbers pan out while, at the least, entertaining offers at the deadline.
  17. That phrase will probably get played out over time, but that's pretty clever for the time being.

  19. I don't think Pena would accept another 1-year deal. Doesn't matter anyways, I was under the impression Votto was a FA after this coming season, he won't be available as a FA until after 2013
  20. That was his impersonator, Ryan Samburg
  21. I bet a bar would do that for you. ETA: CSN has it online http://www.csnchicago.com/pages/live_cubs/ Awesome, thanks. It's possible to pull it off in a bar, but where I work is a lawyerville in the middle of meathead football central. It's bad enough I had to watch the freaking World Series last night on one TV in a bar that had 12 of them because everyone else had to watch the Saints score a billion points against a shitty team instead. It's cool, you can watch this boring blowout regular season game and I'll just go over here in the corner and watch this major sports world championship game. It doesn't really mean anything, it's cool
  22. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/10/23/fish-unlikely-to-trade-for-big-z-might-try-james-shields?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter i'm sure the marlins are really freaking concerned about the 2013 option that vests when zambrano finishes in the top 4 of the cy young voting Especially since the Cubs will be paying for most of the contract anyhow. This. I think at this point it's fairly obvious the Cubs are going to eat a large portion of what's owed to him to get him out of town. Unless Theo can somehow ship him out, with his entire contract, in a 5 team trade that sends Zambrano to the Marlins and then them and 4 other teams sending us their top prospects, just for the privilege of talking to Theo Epstein.
  23. Will there be a place where it can be watched live online? I do not own a TV and I seriously doubt a local restaurant will be down for turning on a press conference and playing it over the sound system during lunch hour
  24. Now there's a face I feel like I could really punch
