  1. Okay... you're the only person I've ever seen on these forums, or in the world for that matter, as I've yet to see any media speculation, who wants Willie Randolph. So I'll bite... aside from the basic reason you gave in the post I'm quoting, why the hell do you want Willie Randolph managing this team? Cause when I look at his 4 year managerial career, all I see is a guy who managed a team with a GM who gave him players like Mike Piazza, Carlos Delgado, Jose Reyes, David Wright, Carlos Beltran, Pedro Martinez, Tom Glavine, Billy Wagner, and Johan Santana... And he won nothing.
  2. Dave Martinez, please. [/riveting commentary]
  3. I don't think Sandberg would be an atrocious hire, I just think there are far better candidates more worthy of the job than he is. Candidates, in particular, who fit the new FO's philosophy and vision.
  4. I think the guys who will actually be on that staff would be a bit more important than the manager and pitching coach. I'm just hoping we can put together a staff that can match Dave Duncan's ability to squeeze diamonds out of turds
  5. Would it be safe to say if we had Mike Maddux managing and Greg Maddux as pitching coach that our pitching staff would be [expletive] awesome?
  6. Pretty classy by Hendry... http://espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/story/_/id/7181939/ex-chicago-cubs-general-manager-jim-hendry-praised-hire-theo-epstein
  7. I hear Jim Riggleman is available
  8. QUICK GET OZZIE SMITH ON THE PHONE! =D>
  9. Welcome to the forum? Ha! I was really hoping there would be a member to hock UGG Boots on here someday HEY MAN! Ethier didn't commit a single error this year! That says something (about his range)!
  10. Speaking of the Orioles... http://tracking.si.com/2011/10/29/report-baltimore-orioles-to-return-to-cartoon-bird-logo/
  11. Montero, Sanchez, Banuelos, Betances... no reason to target anyone else if that situation ever came up (don't want it to). Oh, and Mark Prior.
  12. I'll just put this here and edit it as it goes on National League C: Yadier Molina 1B: Joey Votto 2B: Brandon Phillips 3B: Placido Polanco SS: Troy Tulowitzki LF: Gerardo Parra CF: Matt Kemp RF: Andre Ethier P: Clayton Kershaw American League C: Matt Wieters 1B: Adrian Gonzalez 2B: Dustin Pedroia 3B: Adrian Beltre SS: Erick Aybar LF: Alex Gordon CF: Jacoby Ellsbury RF: Nick Markakis P: Mark Beuhrle Also, they're giving away a Platinum Gold Glove, that is voted on by fans, and they award it to the best fielder from each league's GG winners.
  13. American League LF: Alex Gordon CF: Jacoby Ellsbury RF: Nick Markakis I didn't realize Gordon was so good in the field... had a 10 UZR. 20 assists. Also, Paul Blair just said he never made a single error in 17 seasons... he made 54 according to BR, lol Also, this gem... Blair: "Center field isn't the most difficult outfield position, but it's the most demanding" Ravech: "I would be remissed if I didn't ask, if CF isn't the most difficult which other outfield position is?" Blair: "Either Left Field or Right Field"
  14. National League LF: Gerardo Parra CF: Matt Kemp RF: Andre Ethier I thought Ethier was a wreck in the field?
  15. P.S. Not really, it's lame. They did change it this year so that instead of 3 general OF gold gloves, they're doing one GG for each position, so there's a LF, CF, and RF GG instead of 3 OF GG's. That's why Braun is in "the hunt"
  16. I'M WATCHING IT NOW, OMG IT'S SO AWESOME
  17. Theo pretty much just said in the press conference that Aramis (and the Cubs) is likely moving on and he will probably not be coming back.
  18. Theo pretty much saying Aramis is probably gone :(
  19. People are talking about it in the Hoyer/McLeod thread thread
  20. Theo said managerial decision will be made within a week or so
  21. Jason McLeod... not at all as I expected him to look
  22. He also pointed out that a lot of his success hinged on the fact that he's had great players on his team, which is a byproduct of good ownership and front office management. His success is largely attributed to the FO's ability to bring in quality players. Correlate his success throughout the years with the players in his lineups and you'll find that when he was at his most successful, he had some pretty damn good players on his team.
  23. People give Youkilis a lot of credit for being a patient hitter, but Jack Cust makes him look like Juan Pierre. I've often wondered if Jack Cust would make a good hitting coach. He does already have a baseball academy... and has had one since 1997 http://www.diamondnation.com/diamondnation_jacks/
  24. Thanks, but I'll likely stick with what I know. Joomla 1.7 has some very nice enhancements over 1.5 and I'm overdue to upgrade the front end. I hear ya. I haven't used Joomla in quite some time, though I've been thinking of getting back into it after seeing some of these newer themes and how versatile they're getting.
