  1. Yeah, no. We're not trading one of our elite SS prospects for Jon [expletive] Niese. It's meathead New Yorkers thinking their [expletive] doesn't stink
  2. Gettin' real tired of your [expletive], Glidden
  3. I seriously doubt Alcantara is in the deal. Ideally it makes sense, but it's been reported that the PTBNL will be insignificant. That and it's "or cash" so yeah. Let's not get our expectations up.
  4. That was a doofy slide, Castro. But I still love you.
  5. Junior Lake strikeout to start the game. In other news the Earth rotates around its axis.
  6. Oh look, someone needs something we have lots of.
  7. If anyone wants to find out for sure, here you go: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ApDc5PGsBzgVdDRwRU9PMXp3MV9mMERXek16N0s4WHc&hl=en#gid=1 I just did a CTRL+F and typed in a team name I knew had good prospects. Each time you tab over to a new year it will highlight how many times they're mentioned. EDIT: only goes to 2010. A quick look up of the 2011 Top 100 yields the Royals with this ridiculous collection: #8 Eric Hosmer #9 Mike Moustakas #10 Wil Myers #18 John Lamb #19 Mike Montgomery #51 Christian Colon #68 Danny Duffy #69 Jake Odorizzi #83 Chris Dwyer
  8. After quickly going through a spreadsheets it looks like the last time there was a large collection of Top 100 prospects (that were heavy on the top tier side) might've been 2007 Devil Rays. #3 Delmon Young #7 Evan Longoria #17 Reid Brignac #35 Jeff Nieman #37 Jake McGee #79 Elijah Dukes #97 Wade Davis The 2008 Rays weren't so bad either... #2 Evan Longoria #10 David Price #15 Jake McGee #17 Wade Davis #39 Reid Brignac #59 Desmond Jennings #99 Jeff Nieman
  9. They never had all of them in the farm system at the same time.
  10. I prefer the idea of him at third, Russell at SS, and Baez at 2nd. And with Rizzo at first...Sweet [expletive] Allah, what an infield I think of that infield shuffle, Baez goes to 3B because, as I understand it, he has the strongest arm of the three. Castro at 2B makes more sense than Castro at 3B to me. Regardless, the infield is stupid awesome no matter how you shuffle them
  11. I don't want to move Castro to the OF. As soon as you do you lose a lot of value because his bat profiles best at a MI position. If we're gonna move a guy to an OF spot, make it a guy who will hit dongs onto Waveland/Sheffield regularly like Bryant or Schwarber.
  12. Wada finally gets the call. Excited to see what he can do.
  13. minor league box score awesomeness and watching rizzo and castro (and possibly winning some games in the process)? This is the part I don't understand the meatheads complaining about. They're all crying about how we traded away our two best pitchers just as we started to win, but of our 4 game winning streak that has them all riled up, only one of them was won with a game started by Hammel. Shark didn't even pitch during it. The offense is coming alive and that hasn't changed one bit. We got rid of two guys who play once every 5 days. If the offense continues to perform, and their replacements and the rest of the rotation perform as they normally do, I don't see why the good play can't continue. We're obviously not gonna pull off a bunch of winning streaks, but as others have noted, the Cubs have been pretty good over the last month or so. I don't see why that can't continue just cause we shipped off two starters.
  14. bryant is stanton and baez is MIF stanton Now imagine having 3 Stanton's, with one of them being the actual Stanton. http://i.imgur.com/CQoHFah.gif
  15. I said it a while back in the Castro thread but I was hoping for a Castro bounce back to the ~.770 OPS Castro who hits 12 homers a year and bats .300 and I would've been happy, but he's actually kind of trending in the direction we all thought would be the best case scenario when he was first coming up, which was the Hanley Ramirez comp. I also didn't realize he already had 26 doubles on the season. That's ridiculous. There's only 6 other people with 26 or more doubles in the majors right now: Denard Span Jose Altuve Andrew McCutchen Jonathan Lucroy Paul Goldschmidt Miguel Cabrera Also 38 XBH. There's also only 13 other players in the majors with 38 or more XBH. It's a fun list... Yoenis Cespedes Ian Kinsler Jonathan Lucroy Freddie Freeman Nelson Cruz Victor Martinez Andrew McCutchen Giancarlo Stanton Jose Abreu Miguel Cabrera Paul Goldschmidt Mike Trout Edwin Encarnacion So basically all the best players in baseball. And he's got two more XBH than Tulowitzki. Castro is obscenely good right now, I'm glad the Cubs are indicating he's not going anywhere.
  16. http://usatftw.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/frnxxym1.gif?w=660&h=372
  17. Brett put together a good collection of quotes from the media conference call here: http://www.bleachernation.com/2014/07/05/theo-epstein-discusses-the-samardzijahammelrussellmckinneystraily-trade/ Makes it sound like a Castro trade is not gonna happen, and that they plan on keeping him at SS for the future.
  18. lol that clears up nothing Here I thought they were grooming Alcantara to be a Zobrist type... they're doing that for everyone. http://i.imgur.com/HuLuD.gif
  19. Sun times apparently reported that Villanueva is expected to take his place, with Chris Rusin on his way from AAA for long relief.
  20. North posted this about Straily, for those interested to know more...
  21. Been thinking a lot about Castro being moved. Didn't think it would happen at first. Immediately assumed it would be Russell or Baez going, but this kind of makes sense. I know some on here have talked about moving Castro for top pitching prospects, but would it be possible that the Cubs use him for MLB ready pitching instead? Just spitballing here, but would a Castro for Price one-for-one be something that a) makes sense if the Cubs can extend him and b) would be something the Rays would be interested in, given Castro's affordable contract? Or would they move him for prospects? And if so, who do we match up best with? Javy or Russell(or Starlin) to Seattle for Walker, Paxton, and Sanchez. That would be a pleasant return for Castro.
