  2. To paraphrase Dave Chappelle, the difference between $130 million dollars and $150 million dollars... Is a staggering $20 million dollars
  3. I'm interpreting this as them needing to work harder to convince athletes to play for them over the other big market teams right now vs. them being the juggernaut in the future that all teams assume will be players on the big free agents they need. To me that says nothing about not spending, just that they aren't the prettiest girl in the bar yet.
  4. quite a few players have properties down there. when i was in college, the most notable ones were roy oswalt and jake peavy, but i heard of others as well Well then it's satisfying to know it's players from all over and not people playing for St. Louis.
  5. "Don't be too aggressive up there just relax and have fun" "When you find your pitch you want to be aggressive and attack it" *head explodes*
  6. I hope he's not checking out hunting property in southwest Illinois
  7. DIDI GREGORIUS IS DEREK JETER 2.0 YOU HEATHENS!!
  8. A.K.A. Whoops, I totally forgot about him.
  9. Luis Valbuena has pretty much matched his production if not exceeded it over the last couple of years. whaa? Offensively you could argue Valbuena is the better offensive player, but Headley's defense is what propped up his fWAR this year. In fact, between the two, their defensive and offensive values have fluctuated wildly over the last two seasons. YEAR/OFF/DEF/WAR Headley 2013/6.4/9.2/3.6 2014/2.0/21.6/4.4 Valbuena 2013/-2.2/9.7/2.1 2014/9.7/-1.1/2.7 Valbuena's overall production is good enough that I don't think there's an absolute need for Headley, but Headley is better than Valbuena in terms of all around game, and there's nothing wrong with good players replacing decent players. That said the rumor was clearly misinterpreted and I doubt the Cubs have anything going on with this so it doesn't really matter.

  11. http://img.pandawhale.com/post-40626-hot-rod-andy-samberg-embarrass-sWR2.gif FWIW, this was posted on Rotoworld: But no mention of the Cubs. Not sure why the hell that person thinks it's the Cubs. Unless he saw CBS and thought it was a typo. Also nice job, Rotoworld:
  12. Heh. I live in Alabama, never listen to any radio of any sort, don't use Twitter, and even I know who Matt Abbatacola is somehow.
  13. I would absolutely take a chance on either of them.
  14. He is actually, iirc (cant look it up to double check on my phone). Over the last two years he's 3rd most valuable player in baseball. Higher fWAR than any pitcher in that time span. Only Trout and McCutchen have been more valuable.
  15. He's got plantar fascitis, iirc. He's been injured on and off ever since he's been in the majors. Would be a nice power bat off the bench but beyond that no thanks.
  16. I understand the A's got some nice talent back in the deal, but Donaldson has been the third most valuable player in baseball over the last two years behind only Trout and McCutchen. Seems like they could've gotten more for him, IMO.
  17. It's kind of alarming how much you hate Baez. Like you hate him so much it makes me like him more.
  18. I can't recall the last time a journalist named one of their sources unless it was an on-the-record sit down interview for a profile on that person and the associated team/player. Rumors are never on the record because those sources would be outed and immediately fired or punished for leaking information, and if a journalist did provide a name then others wouldn't want to talk to them. Seriously I don't even know if I've ever a seen a journalist, in regards to offseason rumors, ever give a name on a source.
  19. It's probably more likely that neither pan out as major league catchers than both. Touché
