  1. That's putting it mildly. As a Bruges fan, I had a relaxing afternoon having a beer and watching the game at Union Saint Gilles on TV (we were going to end in fourth place no matter what the results were yesterday), but as the events unfolded I felt sympathy for the fans of the three teams involved - that must have been stressful and, for two of the teams, absolutely heartbreaking.
  2. Absolutely insane ending to the soccer season in Belgium, with the virtual championship changing hands between three different teams in the final ten minutes of the season, with Antwerp winning it in the end with an equaliser in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
  3. That's an ... interesting start to the Cup final. 😁
  4. I actually like places like Kenilworth Road because they have an authentic feel. The equivalent in Belgium would be Dudenpark in Brussels, where Union Saint Gilloise will play for the national championship next weekend. Off course, they had to play all their European fixtures at a different venue this season and are now focused on building a new stadium ( like Luton)
  5. Well now we know - they lost the title on goal difference on the final day. Lots of beers will be had in Dortmund and Munich, but for different reasons.
  6. Well it's one down and one to go - the Gelbe Wand is going to be quite the spectacle next week.
  7. Not a good showing by Real at all today - they were completely outclassed by City.
  8. KDB strikes early !
  9. It's something that isn't proper to the EPL - the same has been observed in other European leagues: midweek European games lead to points lost in the weekend. The richest clubs with the strongest benches can get away with it through rotating, the rest can't - which is also why EPL teams run out their B-side in the Caraboa cup (except maybe for the semis and the final)
  10. No last minute surprises for the CL semis - City vs Real will be the one to watch; the Milan derby could be ... interesting.
  11. City is very impressive against Bayern - fascinating game.
  12. And Leicester fire Brendan Rodgers. Would a straight swap be possible?
  13. It was only a friendly, but Belgium just beat Germany 2-3 in Cologne 😎, with a young side to boot. Completely outplayed the Mannschaft in the first half and held on for the first away win against them since 1910.
  14. Good morning to this new, alien world. Where am I?
  15. That's 3am CEST for me - so I'm not staying up to see what happens
  16. Yep. Didn’t see that one coming either.
  17. I stayed up late to follow the finish of the 2023 Barkley Marathons - and judging by the Twitter activity, I wasn't the only one in Belgium that stayed up until 3am CET. The dentist from Waregem BE coming in with less than 7 minutes to spare had everyone on edge though.
  18. Reims are unbeaten in their last 16 Ligue 1 games - that’s impressive.
  19. Late to this party, but I welcome the possible return of the seemingly endless megathreads about the One Trade that matters to put the team over the top. 8-)
  20. After today’s game, you may want to stick with Everton a while longer
  21. That’s about right - Cassel is a traditional Flemish town that only became France in 1678 under Louis XIV. It would be fun to grab a beer and compare European perspective to American. Will have to be here though - not a fan of Belgian beer. In Cassel you should drink picon, not beer.
  22. That’s about right - Cassel is a traditional Flemish town that only became France in 1678 under Louis XIV.
  23. The joys of cup soccer will be on full display in France tonight as the stars of PSG travel north to face US Pays de Cassel, a bunch of amateurs that play in a regional league six levels below Ligue 1. The game will not be at the Cassel municipal stadium for obvious reasons - it's basically a grass pitch without any stands for spectators and I guarantee the PSG stars would simply refuse to use the kind of dressing rooms they have at those facilities. So the game will be played at the stadium of Lens (capacity: 38,000) which is ... sold out for a hostile "Nordiste" welcome. I know the town (I grew up just across the border) and will be rooting for an upset.
  24. This is my favourite round in the FA cup :D
  25. Zakaria played really well though
