    Seems like they've had several big hits. It does feel like everytime we have a shot at busting a game open we can't do it. Seems at best we can get a 2 run lead lately. A 3-4 run lead could do something to help the staff mentally.

    In general I agree but that ball was in the infield when he rounded third. Even in little league you're out most of the time on that.

    Maybe we just weren't meant to partake and Jake's beautiful, bare ass. What if modesty was the key to his powers and now that all have seen it his powers are gone? Is there any advanced stat that goes into this at all?

    I think this streak ends with some silly wins and we will gain confidence again. The pitchers are seeming to have some annoying, contagious mental thing going on at the moment so they'll probably be some babip luck game that helps with confidence again. Of course it's tough to have said luck when every ball leaves the yard.

    What's silly is just one stupid win tomorrow and I'll feel pretty damn comfy with a 7 game lead despite this garbage play. 5.5 and I'm sweating. 1.5 difference isn't much but it is what it is I suppose.

    They had a 15 game lead 3 weeks ago. This team is playing, like, .250 baseball lately. That isn't sustainable and even after that stretch they are still up a decent margin. I wouldn't be shocked if they division is blown just because 6.5 game isn't THAT much but Cubs won't be this bad because they aren't the Cleveland Spiders.

    That's a good question. In 2008 what was like the worst stretch? 1 or 2 7 game losing streaks I think.

    This isn't a bad stretch anymore. They have the 3rd worst record in baseball in the last 30 games and have been a below .500 team in their last 60 or so. At this point, you have to wonder if the start of the season was more of a fluke than this bad stretch. They've had a really bad three weeks. That's about it.

    This is not at you and I acknowledge I am wrong and suck at math, but I wish people would stop saying we have a big lead. It doesn't seem that big. I feel like a 5 game lead (and it will for sure be more than 5) this late gives me the same comfort level as a 3 run lead in a game or something. Not the most analogous but that's where I'm at.

    2008 had some bad stretches. Every team have has had some bad stretches. I don't know if all the good ones have had ones like this or not but I'm sure they have. We're just in one. I'd like to keep a sizeable division lead though.

    It's weird, if you told anyone we'd have a 5.5 game lead going into the All-Star break (it could easily be 7.5) we'd all take it but right now I don't even wanna watch the stupid all-star game or baseball for a bit honestly. It's been so frustrating lately.
