    you and me both I have a feeling that by the end of the season, I'll wonder how I ever lived any other way. Just don't jump when you celebrate. It could get messy.

    I'll miss Dusty for his crazy quotes. I just came across this doozy on a Reds forum: "Home runs are fine, but I'd rather have RBIs and sac flies or ground balls to 2nd with the infield back." I didn't know Home Runs and RBI had no relation to each other They do in reality. They don't in Dustyland. Dustyland sounds like a place I want to go when I feel bad about myself. I think I would feel smarter

    You could, but if you did, you would be stupid. I don't know. If a lefty only sees righties, which left handed pitchers see for the most part obviously, than it would be easier for him to get in a rhythm. If a team doesn't have a good left handed hitting hitter to change up the pitchers rhythm than a left handed pitcher can be very successful against right handers. I think a lefty righty match up would mess up a right handed pitcher to left handed hitter than vice versa because a right handed pitcher sees left handed hitters less.

    Wouldn't the Cubs be considered contenders in the first place because they have slightly above average hitting and little bit more above average pitching and most of the NL isn't that balanced (aka sucks)?

    During the game on Saturday against the D-Backs, Brenly was talking to Piniella about Pie and about how he needed to "hit the ball on the ground" more. I know that Pie's speed will enable to get many more infield hits then the average player, but I cannot fathom why a manager would instruct anyone to "hit the ball on the ground" on a regular basis. I would think that if a guy needs to get infield hits to be successful they probably shouldn't be a major league player.

    We pretty much have 3 proven sluggers. The rest of the guys either haven't started a whole season in the majors, (Soto, Fukudome, whoever plays center) and other guys who aren't that good (Theriot, Cedeno). So I don't see any way the Cubs are in the Top 5 in the majors.

    Is it the same one they've been running since their last home game with the Silverchair song? If it's a new one, someone better youtube the hell outta that mother. Not sure if it is the same one but it is awesome. Still going. Great clips from all year long. Bad games at the beginning to the great finish. I am so pumped now! Is the song about Straight lines? What music is it set to? Has a ton of different songs. Coldplay was one of them. Coldplay blows and they make my ears bleed, but I really hope to see this on youtube. On youtube if you search wgn+cubs there is a WGN radio montage about 11 clips down, it has coldplay at the beginning. I don't know if it's the one on the radio but it's entertaining

    When I was a little kid I had no favorite team but one of the teams I liked was the Cubs because they were on all the time and I loved Harry. Then my summer before 6th grade in 1998 I fell in love. I at least listened to every game on radio, remember Sammy's run, remember every crazy game we played with Milwaukee that year in which someone always came back from at least 5 runs down, remember not being able to beat the Cardinals even though they were terrible. Then I remember almost crying when we lost Game two to the Braves. I thought for sure we were taking that game. Since than I have converted my friend at the time to a Cubs fan from a White Sox fan. My dad who was a Yankees fan, My mom who was a Dodgers fan and I made a friend I went to high school with who didn't even like baseball now bleed Cubbie blue all because of my passion for the team.

    Possibly. Or it could be AZ. Or Philadelphia. Or New York. The scenarios are all over the place right now. In theory, the Rockies could finish the season with the best record in the NL. Yeah, forgot about them too. Whateverm any one of them could kick the Cubs ass. True, but it beats the hell out of getting knocked around by Florida if it happened. Been there, done that. Havnt those bastards caused us enough grief? I wonder if the Marlins could actually give one of the NL playoff teams trouble (other than us, of course -- we'd get swept). I suspect that they would. They have some pretty good offensive players, especially with the emergence of Hermida. I'd like to think the Cubs would beat them in a series, but that is hard to say with their lack of recent success against them. I think the only other team they could beat is the Mets. (Actually in baseball if you threw even Tampa Bay in they could get hot and win the playoffs.)

    Not that I thought it was a good decision because I think you should try to clinch before you set up for the playoffs, but if the Brewers fall tonight maybe starting Trachsel to set up the rotation will pay off.

    Lord help the Cubs if they ever get a competent manager and coaching staff. I think as a whole, Lou is pretty competent. I think he left his brain in Chicago for this Marlins series, but on the whole, I think he's competent. I agree. I think he just forgot to take his Alzheimer's medicine or something the last three days

    I am hoping the last three days was a fluke and the Marlins are to us as we were to the Cardinals the last couple of years.

    Is there anyway the winner of this division wins a game in the playoffs, because I don't see the Cubs scoring runs and I don't see the Brewers playing defense.
