  1. They must not have someone like Lieber in their pen. Their bullpen is pretty spent, too. Sometimes the starting pitcher has to take one for the team. Yeah, I guess we should be thankful to have a guy like Lieber for a situation just like this one. This is the plus to having as many starting pitchers as we have

  3. Yeah, why give a young player a chance to learn from his mistakes. Yeah, who cares about improving your chances of winning. Reed Johnson really gave us something that Pie couldn't have right there. Besides, it's april and we're facing matt morris - what better time to let someone who is supposed to be our top prospect play? If people aren't ever willing to let a young guy play through his struggles, well, then it's no wonder we rarely ever have a decent position player prospect. I don't particularly care about the results of that one AB. Pie has no clue right now. As others said, I'm not saying he should be benched permanently. But you seem to think he'll just magically learn by staying in the game. I don't believe that to be true at all. Coaches have to learn how players respond to things and learn that they have to change. Sometimes you may have to send the message that the approach he had isn't acceptable and the only way to make that clear is by taking him out. It's quite possible that he will learn more from that then by remaining in the game. He's gone from never taking to taking too much. He looks to be attempting to learn, unlike Patterson, we just need to hope he puts it together.
  4. I think the rule for the umpire is if Fukudome takes it with 2 strikes than it's a ball
  5. He was good once you know. Hasn't been good for years. And once we leave town, he will proceed to suck donkey balls as per usual. Yep, Cubs baseball
  6. That would be sweet. What would be better is if Cedeno played though.
  7. Hill had a 5.54 ERA there in 2 starts last season. I never really checked the stats I was just thinking out loud. Two starts isn't much of a sample size though.
  8. Personally, I want Marquis going in Philly as a theoretical ground ball pitcher and Hill pitching in a park that isn't too friendly to right handed hitting hitters in terms of power. I think this will work out fine.
  9. You're really gonna get that post count up in no time if you keep posting everything twice. For some reason it is posting twice and I'm only hitting the post button once. It's really annoying me and I don't know what's going on.
  10. We are ahead of them, if we win out we are guaranteed to beat out the Reds.
  11. I thought about picking him but how much of his good hitting is a product of Coors. Just glancing at his stats he doesn't hit as well away from Coors. (I think what I saw was previous to last year though. I am not sure how well he hit last year on the road.

  13. This thinking sounds familiar.

  15. For me, there are certain players that are too easy too pick, for instance A-Rod and Pujols so I have to pick someone more obscure but not really obscure at all. So I picked David Wright.

  17. I would really love a sweep because the Cubs never play well against Philly and just winning a game against Philly would give us a nice winning road trip.

  19. Has Jason Kendall had a game this year where he hasn't gotten a hit?
  20. I personally like youth so I think I'd go with David Wright.
  21. I would not be against a nice 2 1/2 hour CGSO victory
