  1. It wasn't long ago that most Cubs fans wanted an admitted steroid user to play second base for them.
  2. A part of me wonders if this is really true though (not that I would DARE want to find out!!). Because pitchers are such huge commodities these days and are such investments, I think they are more closely monitored (and rightfully so) than they used to be for fear of injury. Nevertheless, here are some of the pitchers that have gone 285+ IP in the last 40 years whose arms didn't fall off: Jack Morris: 293 IP in 1983 Bert Blyleven: 3 times (high of 325 IP in 1973) Steve Carlton: 5 times (346 IP in 1972) Dennis Martinez: 292.3 in 1979. Catfish Hunter: 4 times (328 IP in 1975) Nolan Ryan: 3 times (332 IP in 1974) Wilbur Wood: 5 times (376 IP in 1972) - HOLY S---! Ferguson Jenkins: 7 times (328 IP in 1974) Mickey Lolich: 4 times (376 IP in 1971) Gaylord Perry: 8 times (344 IP in 1973) Jim Palmer: 6 times (323 IP in 1975) Mike Cuellar: 3 times (292 IP in 1970) Jim Kaat: 2 times (303 IP in 1975) I'm not counting Niekro who did it like a thousand times or something on account that he basically threw one pitch. We probably won't be seeing any pitchers come close to this ever again (and we probably shouldn't, people aren't supposed to be throwing baseballs.). Is there who have gotten to the 285 mark since the 90's. I looked figuring Maddux has had some years where he has eaten some innings and he had three years where he had the upper 260's.
  3. I believe whole heartedly that there are going to be many Blackhawks vs Penguins finals in the next 10 years.
  4. Wasn't Halladay named in his place or did he just take his place starting? Holliday was named to his starting spot, but he was already on the team. They'll still add a player. I think what I meant to say was Roy Halladay joined the NL and is taking his place in the outfield.
  5. I would enjoy no Cubs playing in this game honestly. Especially the pitchers.
  6. My original point was that pitchers are figuring out his technique. It used to be hed get 2 strikes, and then foul off a ton of them, and often draw a walk or a hit, or at least wear the pitcher down a bit. Now it seems in those same situations, once hes in foul off mode, they just throw something out of his reach and he'll chase. You're saying that before he would foul pitches off and than draw a walk, hit, etc. but now the pitchers are just throwing it out of his reach. Wouldn't that mean he would just take that pitch for a ball like you said he does before? I'm not sure why he is struggling of late. It's probably because it's something that major league players do every once and a while. I don't think the league has made an adjustment throwing the ball just a little further away from him because he has a really good eye and that wouldn't work. He would just take the pitch. No, he really does seem to bail pitchers out on 2-strike counts a lot lately. But it probably is just a prolonged slump. I'm not worried, yet. This implies that Koskue is messing up as opposed to pitchers figuring him out, at least that's the way I take it. Does it really matter, probably not, except that if it is you messing up as opposed to them finding a weakness you would like to think that is easily fixible (Although this isn't always the case).
  7. Does he think that Hart and Longoria are such bigger names than Burrell and Dye that the league has to do whatever possible to get them in the AS game. On another note, would it really matter that much if the AS game voting was rigged?
  8. Wasn't Halladay named in his place or did he just take his place starting?
  9. Or a hero who just came back to life only to have to face off against the villian responsible for his death So the Cubs are Superman and they are going to win this time?

  11. Maybe the outfielder fell down? I think he's had two inside the park homeruns
  12. I hope the Reds take this offense to Milwaukee.
  13. If I counted right the Reds have 19 home runs against us in almost 9 games. Of course we lead the season series.
  14. They've hit 7 home runs against us twice this year.
  15. Do the Reds showboat on every routine defensive play. Don't they know they suck?
  16. It's probably like the in the neighborhood play at second on a double play
  17. I might have to shave my goutee to a mustache now.
  18. Ward single, The riot single than a Fukuslam
  19. Fontenot is so terrifying that Burton didn't even what to be near him with the ball
  20. All I want here is back to back to back to back home runs. Is that too much to ask?
  21. After the first batter Gaudin has pitched pretty well. (I should probably not say that because he might pitch the 9th)
  22. I hate Jim Joyce yelling strike. I really do.
