  1. Z has a tendency to say stupid things when he's pissed. If I were on his team I would shrug off whatever he said because, judging from his antics on the field, he has trouble controlling his emotions. He was probably more pissed off and frustrated at himself and the team and not really Theriot. And let's face it Z isn't the most mature guy so he is going to get angry in some pretty inapproprate ways. This really isn't that big of an issue mainly because it's not a new thing. It's just Carlos being Carlos.
  2. They should move them to Oklahoma City and call them the Thunder
  3. If Z and Harden have serious injuries I think I believe in curses.
  4. What happens in those situations is basically a matter of luck or happenstance. The idea is to get a lot of base runners on so that some of those times when we happen to get hits, there are runners on. We're inevitably going to fail more often than not in those situations. That's a fact. For people to be complaining about not getting hits in certain cherry picked situations is missing the point, entirely. Luck? Sure, sometimes. If you hammer the ball but it goes directly towards the third baseman's glove, yes, that's bad luck. But grounding out to SS when you need a fly ball isn't bad luck. It's bad hitting. Most of the time when people fail in those situations, it isn't because they're unlucky. It's because of a bad approach. Hitting a fly ball deep enough to score on a sac fly isn't the easiest thing to do. Especially when a pitcher is pitching the ball low for the sole purpose of preventing you from doing so.
  5. Magic number just lowered
  6. How does our playoff magic number go down with the Brewers loss? I thought Phillie would have to lose because they are in Wild Card second place.
  7. 6-0 now.
  8. I like this. The Magic number getting below 20 before we even play would be nice.
  9. As a person who loves Soriano's and Ramirez's home run celebration, I don't have a big issue with Velverde. It only bothers me to see it because that means he beat us. I also think it's a little annoying when your team isn't going to sniff the playoffs but it isn't enough to piss me off.
  10. I see that Prince isn't playing for Milwaukee. Hopefull that works out well.
  11. 1st and 3rd for the Mets already in the 1st with one out. I would also like to thank the Mets for making this losing streak bearable.
  12. I honestly think he'd be as a reliever. The guy is typically good for 2-4 innings per game, and then blows up in one inning. As a reliever, he might be less likely to reach the point where he blows up, and if/when he does struggle, the manager should be more willing, and more prepared to have a replacement ready. Then again, since nearly all relievers are failed starters, that's not much of a stretch. And like most of them, he'd probably be inconsistent, if not from appearance to appearance, then from year to year. I have no problem with Marquis as a long relief guy.
  13. No hitters are overrated
  14. Our offense was fine yesterday. Depends on what you mean by fine. home runs, check. base hits, check. Clutch hitting with RISP, not so much. We've gotten the guys on base. Logic says that if that keeps happeing the clutch hits will come. That's another thing I look at in this losing streak. The base runners are there. The luck in knocking them in just hasn't been, it will come around and we'll be just fine.
  15. Although the 4 game losing streak isn't that big of deal (in perspective looking at the 4 games. We had a toss up game between Lilly and Meyer, you can't be expected to win all of those. Marshall against a good Phillies line up in only his second start or so against another good pitcher, Marquis vs Oswalt, and not 100% Zambrano against an Astro team who is 20 over or something like that in the last couple of months.) it would be really nice to win because losing sucks.
  16. Not only would the Phils have to get hot, they'd probably pass the Mets so the Mets would have to get hot also. And I don't think the Cards have a hot streak in them so no need to worry about them.
  17. How about another Hank White walkoff
  18. If Soriano weren't batting I wouldn't mind the bunt now.
  19. I remember game one where it we went from being behind to being tied to being behind again. That was a roller coaster.
  20. Not a big difference, but it proves your point. Bunting lessons the chances of scoring a run. The difference in those numbers can be explained by randomness. It could very well by 1% the other way if the ball had took a few different bounces throughout the years. Doesn't it show that it doesn't matter if you bunt or not thought?
  21. Those are very nice numbers. You want a guy in scoring position. You can say what you want, but statistics show that bunting decreases your chances of winning That's very nice. Good for statistics. Bill Plashke, is that you? Nothing like utterly distorting my point. In THIS SITUATION, you bunt. They just showed you that in that situation you don't bunt.
  22. I don't know if I hate the name Ty or Wiggington more.
  23. I fear this will be the extent of the positive news this evening. Brewers lost
