  1. Apologies if this was discussed elsewhere, but what happened to Marquee showing ALL spring training games? They have shown a grand total of ONE thus far. Two others aren't even on TV for Chicago. The other was on ESPN (yesterday).
  2. Mar 2 Update: I have all the data collected, updated, and coded - with the exception of bench player options. Since Spring Training just began (games), I am giving myself until the end of the week - Friday, March 5th - and I will be able to post this season's announcement, along with the start of roster submissions. Apologies for the delay, but that tricky "real life" thing gets in the way sometimes. ;)
  3. Feb 9 Update: I'm still entering Home Run data from 2020, but I have decided to keep the original groupings that I had lined up for 2020 (based off the Home Runs from the 2019 season). I will add a 2020 column, and not remove a column, so there will be more "history" to base your decisions/trends from. My goal right now, is to have everything ready to roll out by March 1, 2021.
  4. Hey guys, I just wanted to let you know I am planning on running HR Derby for the 2021 season, and assuming we get enough teams signed up, it will be as fun as it usually is! There will be more details to come out later this month, as I work out the logistics, but we will run this year!
  5. The last 2 off-seasons have been glacial-paced, so I can't imagine this winter being anything but a snooze-fest.
  6. I have decided to scrap the HR Derby for the 2020 MLB Season. We will try it again in 2021. My apologies to those who were looking forward to playing this year.
  7. Okay - so now that we will have some semblance of baseball this year, do we want to play HR Derby for a 60-game season, or should we just scrap it for this year and blame 2020?
  8. Games through April 30, 2020 have been published.
  9. Okay, so I've put the blog together over at WordPress, and I've posted the month of March 2020. The first post of the blog, and the About page (same post), explain my line of thinking with this project. I know it's not an active competition, and I know we all miss Cubs baseball... but I'm hoping to share a little distraction with all of you. OOTP Sim Stories
  10. So here is what I am thinking ... and it's not up for debate, because it's also helping my sanity during WFH/Quarantine. I was sold on the grand commercial that was the MLB Dream Bracket, and I purchased OOTP 21. What I am going to do, to hopefully entertain the HR Derby and NSBB Community, is to simulate the 2020 Cubs season. I'm posting the daily results within a WordPress blog. I'm working on getting that online, and when I have a good chunk ready to share, I will post the link here. I'm hoping to have it coded and ready to publish by the end of the week.
  11. In my franchise, he's Tom Brady's replacement in New England. Jordan Howard ended up there too.
  12. Obviously . . . next week's deadline is irrelevant now. I will re-visit posting a new deadline, once MLB updates the start of the season. Stay safe, everyone!
  13. Quietly hoping sign-ups ramp up this week...
  14. Another good catch. I would say I don't know how that slipped past me, but looking at stats every day gets tedious. My fault. It's corrected on the Wiki page.
  15. Doesnt look like Javy has 2b elgibility $75 Javier Báez SS/3B CHC Good catch. sweetpeteman - you'll have to edit your lineup accordingly.
  16. Keep all discussions, questions and transactions here. Good luck to everyone on a successful 2020 campaign!
  17. Hello everyone, and welcome to the kick off thread for the 2020 HR Derby at Northside Baseball! Here is the link again to our Wiki page for this game, and it has all the info you need to select your 2020 HR Derby team! Please be sure to use that Wiki for your player info, rules, and details. Be sure to come back here, to post your team entry to this thread. Some updates and changes have been decided upon for this season - so be sure to read up on the latest! If you have any questions - please ask in the Discussions thread.
  18. I just wanted to put this out there, now that we are at the beginning of March - I will be posting the information THIS WEEK for the upcoming season of the Home Run Derby! Be on the lookout, and start thinking about your roster!
  19. How do you follow up a 1-HR difference in the closest results ever? You follow it up with a TIE! According to the established rules... the tiebreaker is the first person to post their HR Derby Team. Therefore... 20. I am already working on the stats for the 2020 HR Derby. One thing that immediately stands out to me is a player like Giancarlo Stanton. He's been out injured most of the year, and to-date only has 2 home runs. My immediate fear is that he'll be everyone's default first choice for one of their bench players. However, he will be 30 next year, but who knows if he'll rebound or decline. What are some opinions out there? Do I need to make a special rule in this type of scenario?
