  1. I agree he's been hypocritical but I'm glad that you (a well long standing member of this board) would go against the board's policy. Kudos  sorry, but i've had more than enough of that type of crap.
  2. I think this is what BurntOutCubbieFan was talking about: "Corey is such a hack! "Corey,Neifi & Sosa (3 easiest outs in baseball excluding C's,of course)" "Good to hear the Cub fans Booing Corey. He deserves every bit of it!" "Why on earth is Neifi swinging at a first pitch curve on the outside corner?" "He must have been behind Corey in the batting cages before the game." "Who wants to bet that, with the warm and windy day, the Cubs will be swinging at the first pitch all day long and Miller will throw a 90 pitch CG?" "I will guarantee Corey will be first pitch swinging!" "or 2nd pitch. Way to work the count Corey!" "uh what the heck Hollandsworth? What a dumb play that was." "Hey, Holla Was that a Corey or Neifi impersonation? "this situation corey has to be patient." "He doesn't listen to his coaches why do you think he would listen to you? " All of those quotes followed this series of quotes: "Bashing management or other Cubs players is something I felt Trolls do." "We're the worst running baserunning team the last two years in the history of baseball! How can a team NEVER make the right choice. You'd think they would get one right at some point." "Never? you may want to tone down the pessimism or just get off the bandwagon." "he problem is is that Hendry will probably lowball those guys too and we'll be stuck with Macias and Burnitz starting next year..." "Pessimism at it's best! [-X " "I'm off to work.I fear Ill come home to see a loss on the board like yesterday though.Have a nice day guys." "Can you tone it down with the pessimism? Pointing out postives & negatives is one thing, to just focus on the negative gets very annoying." "Since we're all complaining about this pathetic lineup, you know what that means. The Cubs will go out and score about 10 runs!" "shhh!! don't tell the pessimists that, they won't know what to do with themselves if they can't complain about something!" "Pessimists like Don & Cal Raisin are getting more noticeable everytime I read one of their posts in this forum." "Enough with the negativity!!!! If the Cubs suck so bad, how the hell are they even in the WC race? YOU ARE A COMPLETE MORON!!!!" wow, when you really lay it out like that, you can just see how foolish he looks. nice. kudos to corey...glad to see him get off to a good start. though, as someone else mentioned, i'd have rather seen him go to WT so he could work w/ joshua.
  3. the i-cubs website says welly tonight, hill tomorrow. works out great for me since i'm going to the game tomorrow night. i may go saturday as well... rotation out of the break is welly, hill, koronka, leicester, valdez.
  4. dunn's not slow. 6, 8, 19 sb's over the past three full seasons. and why would he all the sudden wake up with no plate discipline?
  5. the potential difference between kearns and burnitz is not worth hill. and i doubt that you're going to get a prospect as good as hill in return for burnitz. off the top of my head, i can't think of any prospect from cincy that is exciting to me other than encarnacion, who would be blocked by ramirez. perhaps homer bailey, but he's in low A, and i doubt they would include their first round pick just to dump kearns.
  6. Well, thePenguin isn't off-base with Hill's fastball as JJ Cooper of BA.com said about Rich Hill: So I do believe that thePenguin is OFF with his "scouting" of Rich Hill, maybe because he has delusions of trying to get the megaoverrated Austin Kearns. BUT, Rich Hill, IMO, does need a third pitch if he wants to become a starter, otherwise his stuff maybe that of a lefty setup. well, i saw a different rich hill than j.j. cooper apparently... iowa's gun is very inconsistent, but i've still found it to be slow (though to varying degrees).
  7. man, dusty couldn't resist taking murton out last night against the righty. i heard murton has never faced a righty in his minor league career. and then, of course, he lets the pitcher bat. hairston and walker bailed baker out of that mismanaging debacle. and a great first ab for holla against leiter today. i have a feeling the dusty baker excuse-o-rama is about to shift from perez to hollandsworth.
  8. Have you read this somewhere or is this your opinion? I've seen every major league pitch he's thrown. It's my opinion. His fastball is weak and he has trouble locating it. His curveball is easy to sit on from the right side of the plate. In order for a fastball to be considered a plus pitch it doesn't have to be hard. Hill's never reaches more than 91 on the gun, but it doesn't move and he can't jam major league righties with it. so you've seen him throw, what, five innings? his fastball is faster than the 89 you mentioned previously, as well as the 91 you mention in this post. kearns' value has plummeted since the beginning of the season, while hill's has skyrocketed. no thanks. if anybody thinks kearns is the difference in making the playoffs, they're kidding themselves.
  9. where have you been? that's the cubs' philosophy on trading their players. see farnsworth, sosa, cruz, hawkins, etc.
  10. and for those of you who couldn't watch the game...his sac fly was pretty deep. probably would have been out in a different park. and though cedeno didn't have much of a night hitting-wise, he put together a pretty solid ab when he drew the walk. was down in the count, but fought off a bunch of tough pitches before taking ball four. of course if he wouldn't have gidp'ed in the 9th, murton would have gotten another ab. or dusty could have batted murton and cedeno ahead of crappy ass, cheating, sausage legged neifi perez...
  11. what do you know....guys under 33 can hit. should get the start once more this weekend against olsen.
  12. weak! if you'd have told me that hill was going to go eight, i would have guessed at least 16 k's. now give him one more start at iowa (so i can see him), and bring him up, pushing williams to the pen. :D
  13. confirming my earlier suspicions, wuertz sucks big time. why not bring dempster in right now? is dusty saving him for when the cubs are four runs down like he did last night?
  14. Only getting rid of Perez and Macias would do that. Please let Baker be fired. Jim has to know Dusty won't play Greenberg and Murton. I'm keeping an eye out for a press conference notice. Why do so many people on this site think Macias is the cause of our problems. No doubt he is weak, but he is the least of our problems. I would love for us to be debating over who gets the 25th spot, unfortunately, spots 6-24 are the problem. problem is, he's not the 25th man.
  15. Corey on being sent down: I believe that those two quotes shows you the difference in maturity level between Dubois and Patterson. Dubois is looking at it half-full, and WANTS to improve his game to get back to Chicago, whereas Corey Patterson is looking at it half-empty, and he prolly feels he doesn't "deserve" to be sent to AAA. I honestly believe Corey is in AAA for quite awhile, to be honest, or he won't be with the organization after the trade deadline. His attitude, right now, STINKS to high heavens. i believe it shows you the difference in how you want to perceive these two players. patterson's been in the bigs for years, and he's just been given a pretty embarrassing demotion. what do you expect out of the guy? i bet he didn't sign autographs outside afterwards either. someone call the trib.
  16. Ain't that the truth. Sigh. Nothing about them getting playing time. And considered bringing up Pie? Have they learned nothing from rushing Corey? it would have been great to see a once young, promising cf who was rushed to the minors sent down in exchange for another young, promising cf who was being rushed to the minors. good stuff.
  17. auction's over, by the way. djaxx is the winner!
  18. The 6 are: Edmonds, Rolen, Eckstein (Starters), Pujols (DH), Carpenter, and Isringhausen.. Congrats to the All-Stars. I cant believe Eckstein is a starter of an ASG.. Lee shoulda been the leader at 1st.. So yeah.. I doubt Bernie would be lying but I'm still gonna watch to make sure it's correct. from that thread... i can understand taking pujols over lee. but THREE lees???
  19. heh, perez finally gets on in front of lee, and he gets thrown out trying to steal. nice.
  20. complaining about every tiniest thing is so out of character for larussa. i hope he's feeling all right.
  21. i'm tempted to disqualify your bid since it wasn't in private message form, but i guess i'll let it stand. :D high bid is $10.
  22. in honor of his homerun derby win, the next auction will be for a ryan harvey autograph. as always, pm me with bids. nsbb gets 100% of the proceeds...tim tells me when he gets the $, and i send the autograph. i never see the $. the money you pay for the autograph is for the autograph only...it does not go toward a premium membership. auction ends a week from today at 7 pm cst. opening the bidding at $1. http://img298.echo.cx/img298/7204/1000569aut7je.jpg
