  1. Marshalls just plain outmatched here. Bad team to go with a spot starter against.
  2. Lee, DeRosa, and Fukudome almost with a 3 Stooges moment there.
  3. Can we please not get shut down by another mediocre starter? The Pirates are NOT going ti beat Sabathia. Not gonna happen.
  4. While it's pretty obvious that Gooz will get that open 40 man roster spot, is there any chance that Jeremy Papelbon, who is 25 and never been past A will get a shot? There are guys who can be pulled from the 40 man, such Sam Fuld, Adam Harben, and CHAD FOX, and he has been pretty hot lately. edit: never mind, hes on the 7 day DL.
  5. Id expect the Red Sox, Twins, and Phillies to be grabbing some last minute flyers on Huff.
  6. Yup, both Cubs and Phillies official sites have Moyer vs. Marshall now. Lets hope this works out.
  7. Any chance that someone can convince Z that it's September 1st?
  8. [quote Rick Ankiel-OF-Cardinals Aug. 31 - 9:40 am et Rick Ankiel (abdominal strain) is close to being shut down for the rest of the season. Ankiel homered on Saturday, but has been dealing with pain in his torso since late July. "I think he's got an issue (that) is going to last the rest of the year," La Russa said Saturday. "All I've got to do is get a hint that (playing him) is not in his best interest and I'll shut him down." The Cardinals are currently 5 1/2 games behind the Brewers in the Wild Card race. ] I suppose Id care more if the Cards were in contention, but we still have several games left v. the Cards.
  9. Couldnt happen to a nicer guy.
  10. It would nice if we could get to one of their starters. Nothing wrong with a series split with a team the caliber of the Phillies, but I dont want a 3 game skid, and with Marquis vs. Oswalt tommorow, that would be the likely scenerio if we cant win this one. Plus, the Pirates have already made it perfectly clear that they have no intention beating the Brewers or nyone else this season. As for Zambrano, I think he'll start, but be on a very short leash with Marshall ready to go at a moments notice.
  11. In nit quite as crappy backup shortstop news, David Eckstein is sure to be delt by the waiver deadline, and the D Bags and Angels are the frontrunners to get him. Surely Hendry can swoop in and take him. Wouldnt cost too much, as the Jays have wanted to move him for some time now.
  12. Backup shortstops are much like backup catchers in that every team needs one, and they're usually pretty worthless wth the bat. I do, however agree that he should be the last line of defense as far as pinch hitting goes.
  13. So if its this frusterating for us not being able to gain much ground on the Brewers, how frusterating is it for them that they rarely lose and are having their best season in recent memory, and are still 5.5 games out of first?
  14. Any reason why Hoffpauir got only 1 at bat an then DuBois took over at 1st? Hopefully they were just giving him the rest of the night off. It would suck if he got hurt just before the September call up.
  15. Are you people for real? Your not for real. you cant be for real. They beat the tar out of the damn Pirates. Your supposed to beat the tar out of the damn Pirates. Seriosuly, were not going to win every game from here on out. Not going to happen. If you want to freak out if we hit a 3 game skid and the Brewers keep winning, go ahead, but seriously...
  16. The loss doesnt disturb me. What does, is the fact that theres a decent chance that we face the Phillies in October, and weve had no clue how to get to their mediocre starters. Hopefully we can put old man Moyer in his place tommorow.
  17. This announcer reminds me of the early days of talking baseball video games.
  18. I think the offense has just picked up on the fact that Lilly pitches his worst when he has a big, early lead.
  19. Keep it up Teddy. Hopefully the offense can get something going early today.
  20. Ah! That's probably gonna cost me some money in my fantasy league. I'm in the semifinals (wanted to end before football season) and was expecting 1 more start from him this week. I'm down 15 points and now down 3 starts to 4. Hopefully Z gets the start Monday then, because I dont like the prospects of the Marquis vs. Oswalt matchup.
  21. OHHHHHHHH YEEEEEEEAHHHHHHHHHHHHH and Can You Believe It? Are his favs.
  22. I find it eerie that a home run hitting team like the Phillies has yet to hit on out of Wrigley yet. With Ted Lilly on the mound, it could be like throwing 10 lbs of raw meat to to a pack of starved wolves. Then agan, we're due up for an ofensive romp as well. We didnt have much luck againt Myers last time though, and the Phillies starters have kp us in check. Kind of ironic though, considering the Phillies pen is considered a strength and starting pitching a weakness.
  23. Iowa wins 7-3. Hoff and Pie go a combined 0-7. Gooz throws 2 shutout innings with 3 hits and 1 BB.
