  1. Good show by Sean. Very good show. Now hopefully the pen can hold it together, and who knows, maybe the offense can put up a few runs. OK, that probably wont happen, but it would be nice.
  2. I really hope the Marlins fall out of contetion, because Id really like to be able to get ahold of Cantu. Granted hed probably scare the kids out of Wrigley, but the guy can hit and play the entire infield.
  3. I agree 100 percent that we need Gonzalez more than we now need (or ever needed) Peavy. However, I'm pretty sure he's classified as "untouchable", so we'd have to offer the moon and a few stars for him. Towers would be much more willing to part with Peavy. I guess if we trade him we could turn around and flip someone (Lilly?) for a bat, but I don't see that happening, either. Fine, we'll throw in Brad Snyder, Jeff Stevens, Chris Archer, Jeremy Papelbon, Casey Lambery, Casey Coleman, Blake Lalli...
  4. I hope Kevin Towers is watching, although at this point we could probably use Adrian Gonzalez from them more than Peavy. How about Marshall, Vitters, Caridad, Ascanio, Jake Fox, Chad Fox, Tony Thomas, Micah Hoffpauir, Jay Jackson, Ryan Flaherty, Rebel Ridling, Randy Wells, Kevin Hart, Marquez Smith, Andrew Cashner, Mitch Atkins, and Derrek Lee as a throw in for both.
  5. http://www.onlinetalent.com/artist/hip_hop_rb/images/chuck_l.jpg Here you go Milton, its been a while.
  6. This game thread is less than jumping. If I didnt know any better, Id say it was a spring training game at 1PM.
  7. The figure of speech you're looking for there is... "I'd just as soon......" You know spelling and grammar aint my thing. Theres really no future in pursuing the cause.
  8. Hanley Ramirez will be sitting out tonight, but could be back in the Marlins lineup tomorrow. Id just assume he takes a few extra days off to heal.
  9. According to The Score, Ramirez will be avoiding a DL stint. I guess Bobby Scales will be joining the rest of Cubs nation in hoping for an Aaron Miles injury.
  10. Yes, all the time before make a mindless trade to being with.
  11. Im going to go ahead and predict we lose this game and split the series. Last year, May was when the Cubs really broke out. Maybe they can do the same this year.
  12. If that cliche was a horse it would have been shot by now.
  13. Back when I was waiting tables, I waited on Lovie Smith. He was a nice guy, everything was going well. However, Ill never know if he was a good tipper or not because he left with the wrong copy of the credit card receipt. I also used to wait on Tyson Chandler quite a bit. He was always 20%er.
  14. Correct. Matt Camp has been promoted to AAA Iowa. Which is probably a precurser to Bobby Scales being promoted to Chicago :( Im glad Bobbys getting a shot after 10+ years in the minors, but Id be a lot happier for him if it were at Aaron Miles expense.
  15. Basically, our lineup is going to start to look a lot like this for the next week or so: Soriano Theriot Fukudome Bradley Lee Fontenot Soto/Hill Scales/Miles Not 2006 bad, but not exactly steller. If Soto wants to step it up, this would be a good time.
  16. Kouzmanoff wouldn't be any worse than our other options offensively (maybe better), but I wouldn't want to give much up for him. A career 101 OPS+ with 263 career Ks to 63 BBs. He'd be able to fill in at 3rd and maybe even 2B. He's got a bit of a platoon split(but not drastic, which is a good thing), and he's a career .813 OPS away from Petco. We could do a lot worse with a bench spot. Oh I wouldn't be against acquiring him at all. I'm just saying don't give up too much for him. The problem with Kouz is hes their everyday third baseman, and theyd want a solid return for him. What we really need is a guy who can play all around the infield, and if they can do some outfield, super. I hear the Indians have a guy like that, but that dead horse has been beaten a bit too brutally already.
  17. http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?n=Marquez%20Smith&pos=3B&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=456673 Looks like Marquez Smiths been bumped to Tenessee. I was looking around the Cubs minor league pages, and though still on the Daytona roster, you'll notice it has him listed as a Smokie with his stats 0d out. ETA: Hes now officially on the Smokies roster.
  18. Yeah, it's going from CO Springs to pitcher heaven. I don't really see it happening Coors Field = pitcher heaven?
  19. I went with Durham, simply because hed be of the most use to us. Ben Sheets would be very intriguing as a mid season pickup While Pedro or Byrd could bolster the pirching staff, its solid as it is, and if we were to go after a pitcher, Id prefer Sheets. Edmonds was clutch last year, but unless someone goes down, we have a full outfield.
  20. Tipping pitches isnt exactly cheating, its more so the opposite as its your own damn fault.
  21. Out of these choices, easily Fudruckers, but there are far, far better burgers out there than the fast food bunch. I dont know if your familira with Evanston, but theres a little place called Bills on Western thatds ungodley. Its about the size of a closet, buts its bee there since like the 50's.
  22. So why did Jim Hendry jump all over an average 2B who sucks at SS? The Miles hatred stems more from the fact that Hendry jumped on him like he was Hanley freaking Ramirez during the off season. Miles is a run of the mill beckup infielder, no reason to ahte him for being what he is. The hatred should be directed toward Hendry for brning him here on anything other than a 1 year league minimum deal.
