  1. LOL at #5. Snider does look like the type of guy in that pic who would kick the [expletive] out of you if you were to badmouth Dale Earnhart.
  2. I watched the end of that game. My favorite part was Hawk saying that the best left handed reliever he ever saw in his 52 years in the game was Dan Plesac.
  3. It sure would be nice to get out of there with a .500 road trip and matching record. The good news is the Astros scored a weeks worth of runs last night so they're do for a shutout.
  4. On the bright side, the best pitcher to give up a run was... well, not a good pitcher And Mateo was the only worthwhile pitcher in this debacle, and he was pretty bad ass with 3 Ks.
  5. Much like my aunt who used to give me $2 bills as gifts and act like they were something more than $2, the Cubs bullpen dregs really arent fooling anyone this evening.
  6. I assume you are asking about Cerda. He does project as a 2B in the bigs (SS is out). His bat is never going to stick at 3B but it should be good at 2B and he should be ok defensively. His patience is impressive and he does have decent power which is nice considering his size. Sadly, Logan Watkins gets priority at 2B right now - probably in part because Cerda can play 3B and Watkins can't but also likely because the Cubs view Watkins as the better prospect, which I disagree with. I meant Burgess. They say he's a bit on the stocky side, and usually guys like that are better off at 3rd. 3B isn't a middle infield position. The main reason I thought he was talking about Cerda was that I couldn't believe anyone would legitimately think Burgess could play short or second. West Side, I can't possibly imagine Burgess has the athleticism to play 3B. If he can't hack it in the outfield, he's headed to 1B. Def meant corner infield. I look at guys like Casey McGhee and Brett Wallace at 1st and 3rd, and think if they could do it, Burgess might be able to.
  7. Wow, Im going to go back to my plan of ignoring the fact that this game is being played.
  8. cerda is one of our few prospects who has a really good eye. if burgess developed some plate discipline and was less fat he'd be a really interesting prospect. i guess it depends on whether he can play a decent corner OF without giving back too many runs. Looking at his build, is there any chance he could be converted to one of the middle infield positons? I assume you are asking about Cerda. He does project as a 2B in the bigs (SS is out). 9. Eh, I won't complain considering the options. Wells shouldn't be out too long, and until Cashner returns, we can stick with whoever sucks less between Davis and Coleman.

  11. Is this going too far? http://i.cdn.turner.com/trutv/trutv.com/graphics/photos/notorious_murders/family/drew_peterson/drew-and-stacy-peterson.jpg
  12. I still say that Id rather have brought up someone liked Diamond or whoevers on the 40 man to eat maybe 5-6 innings than Russell for 3-4 maybe solidish innings and then probably Samardzjia to give away 4-5 runs in the next 3-4. At least its the Astros, and Brett Myers is beatable. I have to say Im impressed with the offense considering the fact that Soto and Pena, who wed been depending on as well as Colvin, who wed kind of been depending on have been black holes to this point. Ill give Quade this much credit, Lou would have implemented the Soto/Hill platoon by now. At least this isnt a must win game...or is it
  13. Not all wins are equal when you cause unnecessary stress on the back of your bullpen due to poor managerial decisions. Those things will catch up to a team over the course of a season. victory grabbed from the jaws of stupidity.
  14. That's ok. JeffH said we have no chance to win either game because of pitching matchups so we won't need Marmol anyway. JeffH says a lot of things. once in a while they're not wrong. Did I miss the part where Wandy Rodriguez and Brett Myers became Tim Lincecum and Matt Caine? I know Wandys good at home, but I have no fear of Brett Myers. Besides, dont we have Z against Wandy?
  15. A wins a win regardless of its effect on your blood pressure.
  16. Come on Carlos, youve already gotten past the decentish hitters.
  17. Make it quick Marmol, and I dont mean a walk to Pence and a home run to Lee.
  18. Sometimes you have to kill a mosquito with a hand grenade.
  19. Attaboy Marmol. Now do more of that next inning.
  20. I dont know how I feel about the wild thing coming in in this situation.
  21. That was almsot beautiful play by Barney to almost rob a Joe Schmo of his first hit of the year.
  22. His second homer and triple in his 4 year career. I knew there was a reason he was untouchable all those years.
