  1. Its too bad he cant produce at the 3 or 5 spot, because Theriot is proving to be one hell of a leadoff hitter.
  2. the fact of the matter is Jones, Floyd, and Ward were supposed to be power hitters, and they have 6 homers between them.
  3. Knowing Lou, dont be surprised if you see exact lineup we saw last night. I hope Im right.
  4. Are you sure about this? Why would a first place team in a tight race put their starting third baseman on waivers? I dont know why Hendry wasnt more agressive in going after Shannon Stewart. he would have been a great addition.
  5. After claiming Stewart off waivers from Oakland, Hendry and the Cubs apparently failed to strike a deal, and he'll stayb with the A's. Back to the drawing board hendry, or else you may end up under the same bus as Sammy and Dusty. Stewart may not be Griffey, or even Dunn, but with a .298 avg. and 9 hr this season, Id take him over any of our current outfielders.
  6. Good call whoever started this thread. According to prosportsdaily, Stewart has been claimed by the Cubs, sop Oakland has the options or trading him to the Cubs or pulling himoff waivers, and Im assuming theyll trade him.
  7. Phils dont play the Cubs again this season, and Branyan sucks against everyone else.
  8. If theres ever a career minor league all star team, Ankiel could bat clean up, wit Jason DuBois and Davd Kelton in the 3 and 5 spots.
  9. There are 2 threads on this. I didnt care about the first one, I dont care about this one.
  10. I say we trade for Shea Hilenbrand from the Pads AAA team, put him back on the juice and hope they dont drug test him until Aramis is ready to come back.
  11. Coors field-check Rookie pitcher-check Overpaid sluggers-check It the Cubs dont hit some homers tonight, they may as well not show up to work the next 2 months.
  12. Your aiming too high. Welcome back the newest member of your 2007 Chicago Cubs, Jose Macias!
  13. Toriis younger, better, and hes the best defensive outfielder on the planet. If nothing else se could just keep him on the team long enough for Joke and Pagan to see how its done.
  14. Or maybe, just maybe they're just a crappy over paid team that happened to get on a nice long hot streak against a bunch of other crappy teams and now they're showing their true colors. The Cubs are who we thought they were.
  15. its just a rumor from mlb4u.com about players who could posibly be put on waivers, but how huge would Hunter be to the Cubs? Id give the Twins the keys to the farm system for him.
  16. sooner thsan later. One thing I can tell you though, if the Cubs and Brewers keep playing the way they are, their big show down at the end of the month will be a battle for 3rd place.
  17. Pie should have come up to begin with, however hes hardly the answer to our offensive struggles. A trade will be neccessary be it a Matt Stairs or Willy Mo, or if Hendry can coax Dunn or even Griffey out of Cincy. As for the rest, it should go Soto up Hill down as for teh rotation, give gallagher a few spot start, if hes good, send down Marsh and bring up Piggy or Rapada.
  18. Heres to him knocking Marquis out of the rotation, we can only hope. Forget Marquis, its Marshalls turn to start shaking. Does anyone have the line on this guy since mid June?
  19. this brings back painful memories of those few weeks after D-LEE first hit the D-EL last season, and they weant some ridiculous stretch of games not being able to score more than 1 run.
  20. Something that we dont know about him, and something that could DL him at any moment. Why else would Lou have benched him twice in the past week in games that really mattered. Theres something that management doesnt want out.
  21. Im sure this time next year we'll all be talking about that one moment in '07 that the Cubs were a few percentage points in 1st before that dreadull spiral into 4th.
  22. If true, that makes me very happy. The question is will he be a starter or reliever? Last night on the game they were saying that they might bring up a spot starter, but only temporarily because Hill, Marshall, and Marquis have been taken out so early the past few games. The bigger question is why dont they just waive or DFA Ohman? They're going to end up eating the salary anyway, no use wasting AAA space on him.
  23. Yeah, I heard he sprained his wrist pulling the rug out from under Geovany Soto.
  24. I have faith in hendry that he'll make something happen, whether its Willy Mo, Matt Stairs, or even Adam Dunn, every year Hendrys made something happen, be it buying, as in the case of Aramis Ramirez, Kenny Lofton, and Nomar, selling, as in the Maddux trade, or those little whats the point deals that scored us the likes of Jody Gerut and Matt Lawton. The Cubs may not be looking good the past week, but thanks in part to the Brewers, we ARE a contender, and Hendry know it, and something will happen.
  25. They dont even want anything big in return. they want to clear the roster space to bring up Kielty. Hell, offer em Dopirek and Cotts and the Cubs will be in buisness.
