  1. I wouldnt say hes stunk. Hes been what we thought hed be, a decent pinch hitter/spot starter. Did anyone really think hed keep up the .400 avg. the whole season. No. He was never slated to be a star. He was`supposed to be a David Eckstine, and thats what he is so far. Pie, on the other hand was supposed to be Jose Reyes, or even a Jimmy Rollins. Granted, hes only 22, and hopefully he will be, but as of now, his only use to the big league team is as a pinch runner, and thats not how you want to use your numbe 1 prospect, and hes better off in AAA.
  2. What about that other guys numbers, can you afford those numbers? Theriots satayed in th high270s/low 280s. not bad Derosa fluctuates between the high/mid 280s. not bad Jones has jumoped from the low 220s to the high 260s since the AS break. Kendalls hitting .303 since joining the Cubs. Ill take it. Thats pretty affordable. Lees plumeting a bit, and he does need to step up with RISP though. Hes basically in the same position as A Ram was last season, as the star of the team, but he cant get the jon done.
  3. I suppose hes pretty good as far as number 5ers go, but I would like to see Gallagher get some starts. I refuse to revoke my stance on Pie. Hes essentially getting on the job training, and thats OK when your 12 games out, but when your in the thick of a pennant race, you cant afford it.
  4. .218, 2 HR. Stats don lie. Hes not ready for the majors. Hopefully he can prove me wrong.
  5. Jake Fox for Pie Pignietello for Marshall Gallagher to the rotation. Fox is guaranteed to be better than Pie?Pignietello is guaranteed to be better than Marshall? Have you even looked at Marshalls stats, or are you just looking at his last 3 starts? Marshall pitched pretty good his last time out, but our manager decided to play the infield in for some dumbass reason. Id doesnt matter what starter you throw out there if your offense can only score 3 runs you arent going to win very often. Hes not guaranteed to be better, but hes not guaranteed to be worse, and thats a risk Im willing to take. Pie is looking more and more like the elder Patterson brother every day.
  6. No matter what the cost, it makes no sense to add an OF specifically to hit in the 2-spot. Especially in this lineup. As sad as it sounds, Jones has been pretty good there in the last couple games and if not him, put Murton there (and in LF). BTW - although I appreciate you changing your avatar to a smaller pic, am I seeing your new avatar correctly? Is the bear in the Cubs logo being...um...taken from behind, so to speak? Weird. Its not that its being taken from behind that makes it, its whats taking it from behind that does.
  7. Jake Fox for Pie Pignietello for Marshall Gallagher to the rotation.
  8. whatever it is, it cant be any worse than Pies avg. with or without men on base. Can we please send this guy back to the cornfields?

  10. TBA=Tim Harikkala, a journeyman who pitched 5 non consecutive seasons for 4 teams, with a career 5.91 ERA. If we cant knock a few out of Coors field off this guy, we may as well not bother anymore.
  11. Unfortunately, TBA is usually the type of pitcher who holds the Cubs to 0 rus on 3 hits, and then ends up back in AAA by the end of the month.
  12. Soto needs to come up STAT. I like Jake Fox, but I fear he could be another DuBois/Kelton career minor leaguer type. Tyler Colvin may be on the fast track to the big show, and Id like to see Matt Craig get a shot before hes 30. Not much to look forward to as far as pitching gos. Donnie Veal was supposed to be the one, but hes not showing it this year, but hes only like 22 and still has more than enough time to get back on track.
  13. Will Ohman and Brian Dopirek for Pods. Final offer. Pods might be an answer at the 2 spot while Sorianos gone, but you dont want to give up anything big for someone who will essentially be holding down a spot for about 3 weeks. Theriot Pods Lee Ram(hopefully) Jones DeRosa Murton/Floyd Kendall Pitcher
  14. As a last line of defense, or offense in this case, maybe. As for Thursdays game that made no sense at all when you had a fully stocked bench and an 8 or 9 run lead. Sure, it was harmless in the end, but how would Lou have looked if Carlos decided to break another bat over his knee and fractured his knee cap? Not too good Im thinking. But then again, using Marmol and Howry with an 8 run lead didnt make much sense either.
  15. Wasnt Victor considered a bigger prospect than Carlos at one time? But then again, there was a time when Corey Patterson was considered a bigger prospect than Jose Reyes.
  16. Yeah, because we really gave up a lot for those 2, who are essentially the backbone of the team. Where are Jose Hernandez and hee Sop Choi now? That's what I thought. Crikeys, go on a minor slump or miss a few games and all the sudden you're an albatross.
  17. Soriano is a 5 tool player. Murton has a decent bat, and all his other tools are enough for him to be a starter on a bad to decent team or a bench player for a good to great team.
  18. Matt Craig has been phenomanal now that hes finally made AAA. He was always a great AA guy, and at 26 he finally makes Iowa. Thats like 42 in minor league age.
  19. I meant Kendall.Sorry for the confusion.
  20. I was thinking that Hendry may be doing that with any dcent player to go on waivers if they make it down to the Cubs. Not a bad strategy as long as we're behind them, however it could burn brisges with these teams for future buisness if they're actually hoping for legit offers.
  21. Man, these 2 were about to be dragged out of Chicago, and now they've been carrying the team. As long as they can keep it up while Ram and Fonz are out, anything they do after that point is OK by me.
  22. He was probably on the juice. That would explain the temper.
  23. If someone were to make a list of players who cant help out the Cubs in any way, Pods would be pretty close to the top. A. we have enough speed, and we need power, which Pods has none. B. Pods may have some playoff experience, but he has more DL experience, and thats something this team is all to familiar with. C. He'll take a spot away from Murton, Jones, or Pie, all 3 of which Id rather have in the lineup than pods. If only Hendry was more agressive inhis persuit of Stewart than hes reportedy on Pods, we could have scored a player who could really help us.
  24. Hendrys problem is that he deems any prospect with the slightest amount of talent as "untouchable", and he aint going to get much for Will Ohman and Brian Dopirek.
