today was the *supposed* to be my first game at wrigley field!!! :cry: however, i had some car issues a few weeks back...so i had to back out of the trip with my buddy... how awesome is that you ask? not awesome at all i reply!!! i could have seen wood's first game back... bollocks oh, and they better friggin win or i am going to be mad at my friend who has probably only been in chicago for about 30 minutes now

Regarding us, we have an abundance of pitchers on the DL, so any pitcher would be free to make a potential playoff roster. There is not a lot of flexibility with the position players, as our only real hope is Blanco being done for the year, which would allow Soto to make the team. The best thing Buck Coats could do for the organization would be to go down with a season ending injury allowing the team to argue a replacement at virtually any position. well, that is sick and twisted logic...but....i like it! so, more likely than not, pie and soto will not be going to the playoffs if we happen to ride the magic cloud there?

I don't think it really matters who closes. But Marmol is the guy who's pitching the best, along with probably Howry. They should be facing the middle of the other team's order; let the other guys take on the 6-9 hitters when possible. If definitely matters who closes. A closer needs to be able to throw strikes (Marmol). Dempster walks a ton of guys and it just builds up the pressure. You should have your best relievers pitching in big situations, whether it be earlier in the game or later, rather than using them in the 9th inning with a lead. The closer label/position is the most overrated thing ever. I agree with this philosophy. Dempster might not be the answer for closer, but making Marmol close would be a poor move. Couldn't agree more. Making Marmol the closer no matter what is gonna be a waste of him unless it's a tight game. Dempster coming it with it being a tie game was a poor choice. I know people will disagree, but Wood should have come in when Howry did, and then Bob should have been used when Dempster was. exactly exactly exactly...closers should never be used in tie game situations unless it is absolutely necessary...i am still trying to wrap my head around why wood wasn't put in today...it was a 2-1 mets lead when he was warming up...well...2-2 isn't exactly all that much different...both are pressure situations... it should have been wood howry then maybe a win oh well...Mr. Adventure strikes again!

while we are on this topic...i need some help clearing up a question... does the 40 man roster go into the playoffs or just the 25 man roster... just because i want pie and soto to be given a chance, especially soto... i really do not understand the reasoning behind possibly having a catching duo of kendall/hill going into the playoffs...

hey that would be lovely... i don't really care who it is as long as they have deep pockets and a keen understanding that a somewhat significant overhaul is needed throughout the entire organization...
