probably veteran infatuation more than anything else if the cubs called up soto and gave him the job, kendall would have more time to focus on his veteran influence/leadership. as a backup, i bet he could really just influence the hell out of young geovanny. sounds like a plan, get on it jim. actually, i think that was the reason for the trade, or at least i am really really hoping it was
