  1. Jerk. I don't blame him. If I was in his position, I'd probably do the same. He already has a World Series ring, his family is settled here in the city, what's the incentive to agree to a trade? I don't buy this. You're talking about two months playing a game when you are away from home half the time anyway. He would at least have a shot at playing in the playoffs this year. If Chicago is where he has to be he should look to re-sign with the Cubs in the offseason on a one year deal for $3 or $4 million. Exactly. It wouldn't kill the guy to let the Cubs trade him. I certainly like him a bit less after this.
  2. Was he really the most likely candidate for the job? I wouldn't have thought they had him at the head of the line even before this outing. I have no idea who they'll pick. They seem to be following their plan to put Z back in the bullpen. Cashner probably would be determined to not be stretched out either. Marshall's certainly not going to move. It will probably come down to one of Diamond, Jackson, Samardzija, or Atkins. Atkins would be the dumbest choice of the 4, so I'll bet on that. And Samrdzija would be near as dumb, so that leaves Diamond and Jackson. I'd honestly take Diamond at this point.
  3. i'm sure the pointless 2 or 3 week shift to the bullpen benefited him greatly. At this point I have trouble believing that's all that's wrong.
  4. What the hell has happened to Jay Jackson?
  5. His control just always seems to go to hell in the 6th. I wonder if they'll let him throw the 7th and go for a CG 1 hitter. I doubt it at 89 pitches. A guy can dream. Brett Jackson makes me a sad panda these days. Yep he's done. What's the ERless streak at now? 28 IP?

  8. Good pitching day today. Here's to Archer keeping that 0 ER streak alive!
  9. Brett Jackson is having himself a fairly craptacular July.
  10. Decent line for JJax: 5 IP, 7 H, 1 ER, 6/1 K/BB
  11. What happened to Diamond?
  12. Ughhhhhhhhhhhhh Game is killin me
  13. I just have a bad feeling about this one.
  14. An awesome pitching day
  15. Is Aramis going to be with Iowa then or will he be done?
  16. Our pitching prospects are having themselves a rather nice stretch these days. Chen's line thru 6: 5H 0R 0BB 5K ERA down to 2.27
  17. Why do I get the sneaking suspicion that moving Jackson to the bullpen and then moving him back to the rotation did more harm than good? Shocked that there is someone (let alone with a name like Nils) following the Cubs minor leaguers in a place like Darien.
  18. I believe Aramis is starting in Peoria tonight. Maybe he can hit the ball there.
  19. Good night for Vitters as well. 2/3 so far with a 2B and yet another BB(!). BA is up to .248
  20. As desperate as the Cubs may be, pitching, especially starting pitching is not something they are desperate for. I'd imagine Diamond or Jackson would get a look before Mr. Alphabet
