  1. More like your bank account's plan. Does Wahl have signability concerns?
  2. Looks like Wahl might still be available in the 4th.
  3. Maybe our front office didn't subscribe to BA and just did some scouting and then took some players they liked. shhhhhhhhh that makes too much sense
  4. Wasn't in the BA #100 EDIT: BA ranked him #214
  5. Kent Emmanual - LHP UNC Chapel Hill for the stros
  6. Thank you for making me happy we didn't pick him. You guys are weird I don't see why. That said, welcome to like 90% of athletes on Twitter.
  7. Pretty happy with the draft so far. Looking forward to Bryant big time.
  8. You're thinking of the Lynchburg Hillcats who were a Reds affiliate just for 2010.
  9. Would seem to be the case. Last time teams changed affiliation: Carolina Mudcats - 1987 Frederick Keys - 1989 (have never changed) Lynchburg Hillcats - 2011 Potomac Nationals - 2005 Wilmington Blue Rocks - 2007 Winston-Salem Dash - 1997
  10. I will just say that if the Cubs were determined to get in, I'd be confident they could.
  11. In other news, Alberto Cabrera probably wishes the delay stuck. Dude is getting hosed by the Generals right now. 5 ER in 3 IP on 9 H and 2 BB with no Ks. Woof. AA, however, has a single and a BB.
  12. Most big league teams' contracts with minor league teams are for two years. Duly noted.
  13. IIRC, every Carolina League spot is open after 2014 (except Salem, which is owned by the Red Sox). That said, you can probably cross off about half the list, as there are several teams that have been in long-standing relationships and seem unlikely to change. I did wonder if the Cubs might consider the Potomac Nationals last year, as there were issues with the P-Nats owner and the Nationals, but that seems to be resolved. After looking a lit bit more, the Potomac Nationals are also up in 2014 (http://washington.nationals.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20120316&content_id=27335510&vkey=pr_was&c_id=was). That means 6 of the 8 teams are up, with the exception of the Salem Red Sox (owned by Boston) and the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (owned by Texas). So even if you cross off half, that leaves 3 openings for the Cubs to get in, likely including a team the Cubs used to be associated with. I'm liking their chances, should they decide to go that route.
  14. I'm pretty sure they're gonna have a window in 2014 (I think after the 2014 season). That's when Daytona's contract is up and some spots in the Carolina league might finally open up. EDIT: Yep, Cubs contract with Daytona is up after 2014. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20120919&content_id=38658858&vkey=news_chc&c_id=chc Pretty sure some Carolina league ones open up then as well. I recall there not really being any openings in the Carolina League the last time Daytona's contract was up. EDIT 2: Now I'm almost certain that's why the Cubs structured the contract that way. A whopping 5 out of 8 teams in the Carolina League see their contracts end after the 2014 season, including the Winston Salem Dash who were formerly a Cubs High A team. See: http://wiki.soxprospects.com/Player+Development+Contracts . It's also a league Theo is probably most familiar with as the Red Sox flat out own the Salem Red Sox.
  15. The Daytona DH has already been cancelled. Looking like it will just be Iowa and Kane County tonight. But on the plus side... Junior Lake! EDIT: Nevermind, looks like the Smokies are gonna try to get games in
  16. First game of Tennessee's DH is currently delayed for "Wet Grounds." Probably pretty doubtful they get any games in.
  17. Haha kinda feeling that way as well. I'd say I'm Appel Bryant Gray
