  1. Would love to know who y'all think I should go with b/w Cobb or Gillislee filling in for McCoy for W/R/T
  2. That Miggy Grand Slam is absolutely a Top 5 Baseball Moment for my whole life as of right now. Just incredible.
  3. Javy is the best and my voice is shot yay cubs yay

  5. I'll even bring the sheeting, tbh
  6. Come on folks, this is the potential experience of a lifetime. Truly a bargain. Call now while supplies last.
  7. Hey folks. So here's the deal, I haven't been out to Chicago since 2007 to stay with the late and great Fred and watch our beloved Cobs get swept out of the postseason for my first (and only) game at the friendly confines. Apparently I'm lazier and broker than I thought. That said, if this crazy team manages to do The Thing™ and go to That Other Thing™ this year, I'd want to be there for it live and in person. Obviously short of miraculously winning the ticket lotto, I have no expectations of making it to the actual games, but to be in Wrigleyville for that atmosphere would probably be just as special to me. SO, anyone around here who lives in the city potentially open to having a lanky weirdo crash on their couch around say, Friday October 28th through Monday October 31st? I'll bring booze and my sterling wit and charm. Added bonus - if this jinxes and ruins everything, at least you can blame me in earnest.
  8. Wow, just saw the news. I was fortunate enough to talk to Fred a month or two back on the phone and wish I had realized it would be the last time. I recall that back then the prognosis was somewhat longer than it turned out to be. Fred was genuinely one of the nicest people I've met and helped facilitate my, to date, only visit to Wrigley field back in 2007 to see the Cubs get swept out of the playoffs by the Diamondbacks. I believe I shared his home with Soccer10k that trip. He was as kind and gracious a host as someone could be to a goofy, broke 20 year old they'd put up with on the internet for the last 4 years. He even came to pick me up from the airport and had the car stall out on the highway and yet remained cool and friendly throughout. I imagine that of the folks here, he probably met some of the most NSBBers of anyone, which says a lot about his approach to this place and his personality. He was one of the most integral parts of this board and it's hard to imagine it without him. It feels wrong that we should even have to. He was, above all, a kind and decent man and someone I'm proud to call a friend. RIP Fred.
  9. Ian Happ has 2 HR tonight.

  11. I feel like I should be super unoptimistic about Montgomery starting and yet....
  12. I like this lineup very much. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Going by his numbers, the answer to that would appear to be "maybe."
  14. Finally, I am on the board for game thread starts. Huzzah. That almost makes up for the fact I'm 1-7 seeing the winningest team in baseball during the last two seasons. Truly, I am a statistical wonder. The mysterious Good Second Half Hammel takes the mound at Coors, which if we're being honest still terrifies me. I have nothing to say about Jorge de la Rosa. He's as compelling as a pile of wet leaves. Go Cubs.
  15. Greetings all from the not-so-sunny shores of Lake Michigan. Of course now that I'm out in this neck of the woods the Cubs run off to the mountains to hang out with some weird purple triceratops in a vest or something. Still not sure what's going on there. At least I'm about 95% sure it's my turn to start this dumb thread. I'd say I'm hopeful about not going 0-3 but it's Mike Montgomery spot starting in Coors, soooo..... I'm guessing on the starter, but I believe Jeff Hoffman is making his major league debut tonight. Here's hoping the Cubs give him a rude welcome filled with dongs. Go Cubs! 16. Josh Norris of BA is at the Emeralds game. I can't post the tweets as I'm in the car but he seems quite enamored with DJ Wilson. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  19. Haha whoa my bad folks! For some reason I read it on Tapatalk made it look like Sammy Sofa started and I figured he was spot starting as Soccer had mentioned Beantown hadn't been on in a while. Delete plz, mods!
