  1. Looks like somebody skipped breakfast.
  2. Surprisingly, Mariotti isn't as harsh as he normally can be but he still provides some zingers.
  3. The Braves are talking him up... The scout claims the Cubs were looking at Woodward. I hope the Cubs don't fall for Pena but they may like his defensive skills.

  5. Braves.com has a new article up about Tony Pena Jr. He is out of options and in danger of not making the club because of the presence of Chris Woodward. So it could be that the Braves have decided to keep Woodward and shop Pena.

  7. Are you serious? I'm surprised that hasn't circulated the internet. I'll have to look for that podcast.
  8. You were on the money but he's been limited by an injury. AJC Braves Blog I'm sure the Cubs have others on their radar...
  9. Looks like the Cubs were sniffing around after Woodward. The Atlanta Journal Constitution's Braves Blog has this to say: He hasn't played due to injury so he might not be a continued target.
  10. A lot of players should have been in AA. That too! :D
  11. I like the way they look and was seriously considering getting a pair. Now I'm thinking they're a bit too ostentatious for my tastes. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like I'd need to be 16 years old to wear them. :P
  12. This is almost exactly like something Dusty said. Yeah, I seem to remember that, too. Of course, any manager of a team that has a shot of getting into the post season is saying things like this, especially during spring training. I guess from Lou's perspective, its the nice way of saying, I'm not managing the Devil Rays anymore. I agree with Lou! I watched too many young guys go through growing pains, while trying to develop, on the ML team last year. This is not AAA. The young guys who earn their way onto the roster should be polished enough to handle the situational demands of performing in the Major Leagues. As Lou mentioned, Ronny started out very well in 2006 only to have a poor second half. It's obvious that teams made adjustments on him and he was unable to respond. Add to that the pressure of trying to maintain a starting job and it was a recipe for a bad season. Ronny's game is not going to advance on the bench. He needs to be more consistent defensively (especially with making routine plays) as well as learn plate discipline and pitch selection... Therefore, he would be better served by going back to Iowa to work on his game. BTW, I know one could argue that the previous regime confused his approach at the plate but, the truth is, that wouldn't have happened if he already had a firm understanding of the strike zone.
  13. yep. that sign was posted right above the bowl of amphetamines on the craft service table LOL, they were legal back then.
  14. I've never heard that. It used to be that the pitcher's were ahead of the hitters (in general) during ST.
  15. It's worse because MLB has explicit rules against gambling. Every clubhouse has a sign reminding players against betting on the game. This is the reason why Rose will not be reinstated.
  16. Ryan Dempster, like Michael Barrett, is contributing to DLee's Project 3000 to fight LCA. And there's more...
  17. Since there's angst about the good pitching performances of other NLC teams, during Spring Training, I thought I'd mention that the Sox are beating up Chris Capuano for 7 ER through 2 2/3 IP. Sheets can't carry them alone...
  18. Good luck with that! I don't think any team would touch him because of his controversial nature. I'm sure this little revelation won't help...
  19. Gabrielle Union is high on my list. :D Mine too. I bet she would look great at SS. SS, 2B, RF, or on the bench she's going to look great.
  20. CSNY= Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young?
  21. Gabrielle Union is high on my list. :D
  22. Imagine the problems that could cause... DeRosa signed here, for 3 years, to be a starter and Theriot has already been promised the utility role.
  23. I doubt they cut him in the spring out of fear of losing a grievance. I thought the whole idea behind cutting Walker, if they do, is to do it before the end of ST. That way the team would only owe him around $650k. He will be an expensive bench player.
  24. Miller has already spoken out against pitching in the bullpen, which is why he'll most likely be traded if he does not win the final rotation spot.
  25. It's not going to happen. Pie is headed back to AAA. Plus, I doubt Jones would net Cabrera.
