  7. Sure, at just under 5. Yes, but the CL is very offense oriented I understand, but it's still not something to brag about. They have been the best; It's hard not to take some positive out of it. It's surprising when you consider how well the Angels have pitched against the Cubs... More than anything, I think it shows that Cubs starters are keeping the ball on the ground, more often than not. It is really easy to give up a lot of homeruns in AZ. Limiting the walks helps as well.

  9. Cubs leading the CL in starters ERA
  10. Do you think they're pretending that he's injured when he's not? My initial thought was that he and the team were concocting an injury to buy him time, but in light of his reported decease in velocity, I think he may have had a setback.
  11. I agree, he's probably already made up his mind but I'm sure it's still hard to confront the players. No doubt there have been many tears shed in the manager's office on cut day--in addition to the guy who asked who's running the show? Cubs.com
  12. You beat me to it. :D DLee is having an incredible Spring Training. Hopefully he doesn't cool off too quickly.
  13. I agree, it should, but that doesn't appear to be the case: Paul Sullivan/Tribune
  14. So they are putting him on the DL before finding out if the doctor says there's a real problem? OK Anyway, they have Guzman ready and that's all that's important right now.
  15. At this point, the injury is unconfirmed.
  16. Agreed. There's a long season ahead. If he's legitimately injured, he should be healthy enough to contribute at some point. I still think this situation is fishy; Hendry and Piniella spoke with him a couple of days ago. I think they convinced him that needs more innings (they would also like to save him from the usually lower temps of early April). Wood going on the DL is the perfect answer to the short term bullpen issue. He also refused to speak to the media... Guzman is going to make the 25 man roster. I don't think there is any need to concoct a fake injury to justify a stint on teh DL to start the season. They can legitimately say he was hindered by his earlier injury and needs time to rehab. Not to mention the fact that pitching in a Cactus league game changed the date they can make the DL placement effective. If they truly wanted him to go on the DL they would have had him rehabing in minor league camp, so they could have called him up earlier if needed. I don't think they are thinking about that at all. He's only pitched 5 innings all ST so they aren't worry about back dating. I think Piniella wants Guzman as the long reliever in the short term.

Not after he's been saying all week that he was fine!

  19. I saw that and my first thought was he's taking one for the team... I don't think he's hurt but they convinced him to play along so they can put him on the DL to start the season. He needs more innings and Guzman can go north with the team. I could be crazy but it sounds like Remlinger's supposed lawn chair incident (or bullpen chair) that conveniently landed him on the DL a few years back (just in time to provide some roster flexibility).
  20. Alrighty then... Some of us have the luxury of working from home with lots of extra time and some of us don't... I'm surprised you're here now! Apparently, every moment of your life is action packed. Well I hope your employer is getting full value for their compensation, because I can't possibly see how much work you can get done with over 30 posts a day. I don't want this to turn into a full fledged e-beef, but I don't mind if I can't keep it on wax and it spills into the streets. I am MY EMPLOYER, thanks for your concern. I just love the post-police. I guess it's so much easier to pick a fight over the internet... Worry about yourself! Perhaps he just wants to get his post count up. Flame wars are good for fast posting, until you get banned. Good point!
